Gail, contacting a slot host and establishing a relationship with the host can be very beneficial. While most of the offers come from the casino marketing dept., a host can help you in many ways after they get to know you. Like all relationships it is best to start slow and establish yourself with the casino/host and then take advantage of your relationship. You have to start somewhere so meeting a host on this trip and getting the ball rolling is probably a good thing to do. ------------------ John Moderator Dining Forum john@talkvegas.com

Gail, I play video poker. I do not have my table play rated since I like to hit and run when playing tables. It's the only way I can do any good. If you have the name of a host who has been recommended to you, then go to the casino host's offices and ask for that host. Introduce yourself and tell the host how you got his/her name. Tell them how you play. Don't expect much initially from the host since they have heard all the stories before. But let them know that you are just asking to have them look at your play when you leave. That way you aren't asking for anything before you have established your play with the casino. Most strip casinos require you to play a minimum of $25 per hand on table games. If you play less than that then you won't get much in the way of comps. Giving your card to the dealer when you sit down at a table is a must. If you play at the $25 per hand level then a host will help you. I've always let my play do the talking for me. When playing vp there is no guess work involved for the host. The computer tells them what level of comps I qualify for. But after getting to know the host you can always get extras from them. Best advice I can give you is to be yourself and don't try to impress them. They have seen it all. Just tell them how you play and that you would like to stay at their hotel on future visits and let the discussion flow from there. Good luck. ------------------ John Moderator Dining Forum john@talkvegas.com
