   A.C. -vs- L.V.
   A.C. -vs- L.V.
I have never been to the East Coast and was thinking of making a trip to A.C.
I am from Chicago area and have gone to Vegas for the past 12 years....my question is: How is the food and entertainment options in A.C.? I realize it is not near as large or busy as LV, but how about those two options...are they plentiful and cost wise the same ?
Thanks
Jo

Jo,
This is only my opinion. Don't waste your time with AC. Yes a great many of us go there from time to time, but it's for our gambling fix only. Your odds are better in LV and the food is better and cheaper in LV. The shows are more plentiful and for the most part better too. There truely is no comparison to Las vegas. It's a 2 1/2 hr drive for me to go to AC, it's a 5+ hr flight for Las Vegas, I go to AC 2 times a year, Last year I went to LV 8 times. Do the math! <s> Save your money for a place where you have a chance of coming out a winner!

If you want something diff. try Tunica Mississippi. 14 casinos now. Its no Vegas but better than AC- IMHO

Jo,

I have to echo Lee's comments on AC. Gambling at AC is on par with the Indian casinos we visited in Michigan and the one in Windsor. If you are lucky, they may have some decent entertainment when you are there.

Thanks for the info. I have been to Tunica and do like it there. It is strickly for gaming though since there is little else to do there. We stayed at the Horseshoe first trip and then the Grand for two trips. It is an eight hour drive for me, but if you go when the weather is nice it is a pretty drive from here ( South of Chicago ).
I drop by our local Riverboat Joliet Empress about two or three times a month. It is okay for a QUICK fix <G>, but I'll have to admit there is nothing like Vegas. God just getting off the plane and heading to the cab station starts the rush and it doesn't end till you board the plane for home.
Can't wait for Sept.....

Jo,
I think we all know that "Rush feeling" you get from LV! <s> There is nothing like Las Vegas, and IMHO there never will be. Las Vegas, even on a loosing trip is 100x better then AC. Now if you ever find yourself out this way, let us know, there are somepeople on this BB, that have been known to go to AC at the drop of a hat to meet more fine people from this BB. <S>

I have to differ with the opinion of going to Tunica over A.C. The casinos in Tunica are newer and do have better comps, but there is NO charisma there! I may be a bit prejudice because I'm very much a beach person, but I have found some great places to eat in A.C. Now I can't say much about the entertainment (Gambling IS my entertainment), but they do get some pretty good headliners, too.

I have to echo Lee's comments. I live in NJ, and I *like* A.C., but to say that it can't compare to Las Vegas is an understatement. Bally's in A.C. has nice rooms, a very nice indoor pool and spa, and is a pleasant place for a two-night stay. But, again, it ain't no Vegas!
