   Harrah
Just returned from a business trip to New Orleans. It was my first trip to the Big Easy. Fantastic food and drink, what more could I ask for?

Well, directly accross the street from the hotel at which I was staying was the only land-based casino in New Orleans, Harrah's. Spent a few hours there one night. The mood of the place was rather depressing. Seems like the city is not crazy about the casino, and that negaitve feeling really sort of permeates the place. Of course the fact that I lost a few hundred $$ didn't help.

Mark, losing doesn't make a place cheerful, but I think you're right about the dislike for Harrah's. I think they may have stepped on a few toes to get that location, and from what I saw when I worked down there, the natives aren't too friendly toward outsiders that come in and try to change the rules or the status quo. (I can't say that I blame them either<g>.)

Jeff --

I stayed at the Windsor Court, which was beautiful. Great service, nice rooms, good bar, etc.

As for the casino, it definitely was not packed when I was there. Certainly was no problem finding a low limit game to kill a few hours. Though the casino is very nice, it just had more of an A.C. than and L.V. feel to it to me.

Cathy --

Where DIDN'T I eat?!?

Seriously, though, we ate well both at lunch and dinner: Galitores (sp?), Emeril's, Commander's Palace, Mr. B's. Also had a fantastic room service meal from the Grill Room at the Windsor Court.

Ahhhhhh.
