Boyd Corporation has announced that the first phase of the Atlantic City Marina District mega-resort, the Borgata, will now consist of 2000 rooms instead of the original 1207 that were planned. Haven't even started the building and they've upped the room count.
Boy'd new partner is to be MGM Grand, Inc.. The original partnership was between Boyd and Mirage Resorts, Inc.. Many of us thought the whole idea would be scrapped when Mirage sold, but it now looks like it's a "go" again.
The Borgata Hotel-Casino construction is presently scheduled to start this coming summer. Hope this is not another false alarm. I, for one, like to visit Atlantic City in-between our Las Vegas trips. AND, we definitely need the competition. Maybe we'll see some more forced improvements from the other casinos in A.C.. That's about the only time they respond to we gamblers who pay the bills.
