This is kind of for Beth, I think she's the one that said she goes to AC alot. Beth, do you stay there or just drive down for the day? Where do you like to stay and gamble?

It varies. We sometimes will drive down for the day(leaving home at any hour)and returning between midnight and 5 a.m.. We're just 2 hrs. away if traffic through Philly is not too bad. Also take the bus sometimes for a daily trip of 6 hrs. in A.C..

We also take advantage of comped rooms at Showboat and stay overnight. We enjoy playing much later in the evening after most of the busses have left A.C.. Showboat has been pretty good with comped rooms for the both of us so we quite often will reserve both rooms and take friends or family along with us.

Only other place we've stayed overnight is at Harrah's out on the marina. We had a TalkVegas meet several years back at the Wave Lounge at Trump Marina so we decided to try the rooms at Harrahs. I enjoy playing at Harrah's and thought acccommodations were fine. So, this September we are taking advantage of 2 comped nights at Harrah's. If the gambling goes well, we will stay; if the gambling is not good, we can always drive home early.

We do manage to play some vp at Bally's on every trip as we enjoy the walk on the boardwalk and we get to cash in our coupons.
Claridge is said to have the best vp machines, but I have never been able to win anything there.

Play very little at other casinos in A.C.. Many years ago we often took the bus to the Tropicana simply because it was a straight-thru with no stops.

Since we've been visiting since Resorts opened in the early 70's, we've played at all the casinos during that period of time.

Do you ever visit A.C.? Maybe we could get together sometime. We've have been known to make "spur-of-the-minute" trips.

I'm trying to throw together a trip right now for this weekend. I just found out at work at the end of last(nice notice), that we have Fri and Mon off. Tried to get into LV..no chance. So I'm thinking about driving up to AC. It's a long drive, but the flight is as much as the one to LV, go figure! I just can't seem to get any girlfriends to come along for the ride and the experience for the ones who have never been to a casino. Yes, I've been to AC before. Took the hubby once. He was fine til he lost all the money he had won.LOL Stayed at Park Place, got upgraded because they had over booked the rooms, too bad <G> The rooms were very nice.
If I make it and you're going to be there we'll meet somewhere.

For the record, I'm not much further away then Beth from AC. We don't go as often as Fred & Beth, because I can't get over the fact that it's not Las Vegas! LOL
If I was going to fly by air and the price was the same to both places, Las vegas would get my vote. One day over night in AC and I've had my fill (or rather enough losses). These next few weekends are out for us for an AC trip, but if we know people from TalkVegas are going to be in AC over a weekend, we too have been known to drive over to visit/meet them.

How and where were they flying you if it takes as long for A.C. as LV? That's crazy!

We do have plans for the Labor Day weekend so we won't be able to make A.C.. Another time?

Do hope, if you decide to go, you're able to locate a room as this weekend is when so many head to the shore for the end of the summer season.

Let me clear that up for you. I meant the 'flight' was as much....cost as much to AC as LV, not the length of the flight. That would really stink!<G>

That still doesn't sound great! Surely shouldn't cost that much to drive. How long a drive to A.C. for you? Sure hope you find someone to join you if you go.

Well, Beth,
It takes 7-7 1/2hr. on a bus with a tour group, I would say I'd make much better time in a car if for no other reason than pulling the mountains faster than the bus on the way leaving the state. Maybe 6hr. The airfair from here, actually from Pittsburgh, is awful. I could drive to Columbus, Ohio and save $50-$200 or more to fly outof there. D&^%^%mn US Air! When I checked at the last minute for LV, US Air was, you'll love this, $1500 COACH. Was I screaming?! YES! Not at the travel person, but really now folks. That price would make me want to fill that empty seat on the plane, wouldn;tit you? Then I check about flying to AC from PIT and it was $989 HAAAAAAAAAA!!!!
US Air is the only commercial flight to AC and no charters were going. Monopoly? Did I here someone say monopoly? It's the same cheaper flights from the DC area as Ohio.Go figure. It's $200 and some odd dollars to fly from our local airport on USAir to PIT, driven in 1 1/2hr. What a shame.

That's basicly it. No riders for the trip. The last person I called said she could go in a week or two. So I'll let you know. I can't wait! I may check on a flight to LV if she's game, it takes about the same time hour wise to get there from here. It may even be worth the drive to Ohio.<G> We'll see.
