Paris hotel? 3/19-23rd
  Paris hotel? 3/19-23rd
Hi all! Sorry I have not been here like I was daily on other boards some of you know me from. I am heading out March 19th for a 5 day stay. Wondered how this Paris place is. Any do`s don`t bother? I play video poker and appreciate anything someone might have to say about machines.

Any info. about rooms, restaurants or car rentals would be helppful. Anyone else in town or planned meets? (Vic and I have several people we are seeing all ready, so time might be tight).

Will be almost a year to the day, since we have been there. Anything anyone wants to share is appreciated.

Thanks: Kevin in Mich. (80 today and going to get cold again)

Kevin,
I was at Paris in November. Played video poker for just a few minutes. I did not care for the slot club system at all. The card readers simply say "card accepted" and you have no idea of what earns a point or how many points you have. Poor system, in my opinion. I like to track my own play and know where I stand. This looked like a nice property, however, it was very crowded and I didn't spend much time there. I'm sure others can give you some more information.

Kevin,
I like the looks of the place. The VP selection isn't too great. I've had some luck though at Gustov's bar on the dollar machines & The Sports bar quarters. But the pay scale is less then desirable.
Bartenders are very nice here.
Biggest knock on the place is, it gets crowed with gawkers. Heavy themed Casino, we've concidered staying here a couple of times, but we've always elected for other places. Cocktail & Change service stinks at the machines away from the bar. On a past trip had to wait 1hr for a fill, during that time I never saw a cocktail waitress.

Kevin: At the Sports Bar I have had some luck with VP and also at Gustav's bar in the main casino. Just keep in mind that the pay schedules are not good at Paris, so you may find yourself playing mostly at other hotels with better schedules. Rooms/baths are fairly standard but quite nice, and nice and new.

Mon Ami Gabi is a the popular restaurant where you see people dining outside on LV Blvd. We went for lunch, the food was pretty good, and it was very busy, so you may havea wait...I'm not sure if reservations are accepted for lunch. We had dinner in the Eiffel Tower restaurant--also quite good but pricy. You can take the elevator to the restaurant without having dinner reservations; at least it was that way in November. The view is very good of Bellagio and the fountain show, and you can sit near the windows and enjoy a drink, although drinks are also pricy. Le Notre is where you can get your sugar fix with a great selection of French pastries.

Valet parking was a zoo in November, always coming in and sometimes going out.

Kevin, I wasn't thrilled with the place. I agree with the others in that a session or two at Gustovs Bar was okay. I wasn't impressed with guests trying to live up to the theme. The best way to enjoy the place is viewing it from across the street. If you have a Ballys Slot Club card, you don't need a Paris card.

We will be eagerly waiting for your impressions when you get back. Take lots of notes for a trip report!!!

I MUST say the slot system totally sucks. I play $1 machines, max coin. At Bellagio my average time earned 350 points which was 30 bucks cash back, casino rate, 3 buffets. At Paris spent same amount of time, the slot people said it was only an hour and 33 min. Totally not true. No points they seem to go by TIME played. What's that about?

I only found one bank of VP machines and they were the Flush Bonus ones. I was dealt a straight flush on the deal on the right machine and was paid 1000 quarters however (so now I like them)!

CR, you are the second person to mention that a slot host was concerned about the amount of time you played instead of the dollars you put through a machine. If this is the case, it sure doesn't make any sense. A person was told a similar thing at Caesars.

Kevin, We stayed there and thought it to be very nice. Stayed in room (1486) which over looked the pool and eiffel tower great view.We noticed some of the rooms have a bad view looking straight at Bally's!!! Janet Keen the casino host was more than accomadating. Her office is by the High Limit Slots and always had a nice little buffet of munchies,FREE!! $1 VP at the bar wasn't to bad next to the crap tables GOOD LUCK on your trip!!! Thank you for reply. I was a bit stunned by some of the coments about the place. I hate to spend $$$ to be disappointed. Most trips I take are pretty cheap, because I look for every special offer and deal I can find and sometimes see if the competition will sweeten it a little more. So, when I dig deep and hear less than positive things, I tend to get nervous...

Trust me, if the place is less than expected... I will be sure to go into detail on board of their shortcomings!! <s>

Thanks again for writing! Kevin in Mi

Kevin,
We just got back yesterday and we stayed at Paris for 2 nights.
I also did not care for the selection of $1. video poker machines. We played some triple play ones and my husband got his first royal and that was wonderful.
Concerning the slot club...we found a flyer that said starting in April they were going to become more user friendly and that we would be able to see our points as they accumulated. Also, from now til sometime in April they were giving double points for $1. and above play.
We played there for about the same amount of time that we played at NY, NY and we received almost 4 times as much cash back at NY,NY. Also NY,NY gave us two free shirts and comped all our meals and room.
Gale
PS I also remember you from the old Prodigy days.

I have never liked the Paris casino. I find it claustrophopic and unusually noisy. Also, you get so many gawkers. It may be sort of cute to look at, but not to spend any time there. Just my opinion.

Hi Gayle and Gale.. Thanks for replies... I get the feeling one gets before diving into a lake for the first swim of the year. I do recall other other openings where crowds made it impossible to really enjoy staying at a new place... Too late to change now...

I am certain my report will contain the good, bad and ugly!! Here in Detroit weather is suppose to be close to theirs... Thats a let down! Well bags packed and leave Sunday!! Kevin in MI.

Kevin, the crowds where bad at times, but remember at 2am, things tend to thin out a bit, then after that...you have the whole place to yourself!
Like I said, I like parts of the place. I do enjoy the theme of the place and you'll like the cocktail waitresses uniforms....er...not that I notice such things!
