I don't think Las Vegas is ever going to be the same without Steve Wynn.

He added an element of class that was unheard of in the past.

I hope that this past class lasts when the new owners arrive en'mass.

But I think we'll see a big difference. And not for the better either.

When the great depart Las Vegas, they take some of the heart with them.

Good luck, Mr. Wynn! Enjoy your island paradise but I rather hope you'll just move down the Strip to the Desert Inn.

That place needs a guy like you!

I'm just wondering if with the buy-out if there was a non-compete clause in thier somewhere?
Actually, I'd rather see him move downtown and buy some old dumpy buildings and add some class at that end of town!

Lee,
From what I have read so far, Steve Wynn will not have a part in the new joined company and did not sign a no competition clause. Whether or not these rumors are true remain to be seen, but it sure is interesting to speculate. Another thing that I have read is that Steve Wynn doesn't like answering to shareholders. Surprise! <vbg> That's why I keep wondering about the Desert Inn. It's a classy place and he could buy it using the cash he gets from the sale to MGM. He could run the place any way he wants to and not have to answer to anyone.
Guess we'll have to stay tuned to see what happens next!

The DI has loads of potetnial and I would like to see Wynn buy it also. The last time I stayed there was 1984 and it was a popular place at that time. Now it is deserted most of the time.

Well, I hope you are all right about the Desert Inn and the possibility of Mr. Wynn becoming its new owner.

I've always been enthusiastic about his projects and the manner in which his dreams become realities.

But my unreliable, off the wall, rumor department says that without a doubt, Mr. Wynn plans to take a well deserved rest and is going to take it easy for a while.

In most cases, rumors are only half true; so I hope that the above mentioned runor is not the half that proves to be valid.

Keep rolling them dice, Mr. Wynn. Your hot hand has not ended! Not by a long shot!

Don't worry Steve will be back. Remember Caesars is on the sale block. Right between to of his old places woulden that be a kick in the face.

Kizzy,
Caesars is up for sale again?
Are you sure? I thought that is what Hilton (Park Place) wanted?

I can't imagine Steve Wynn would have signed some kind of no-compete agreement, because there would be no leverage to force him to do so. MGM approached Mirage unsolicited with its buy-out offer of $17/share, and the $21/share the parties settled upon was not so high as to require Wynn to throw in something additional like a no-compete. Also, can you imagine the press if MGM backed out of its attempt to acquire Mirage simply because they were afraid of having to compete against the mighty Steve Wynn!?!?

I'll miss Wynn, too (if he's not around). Though some might think he took the "Vegas as an adult Disneyland" approach too far, I don't think many would argue that Las Vegas would have been better off had he never existed.

off the news wire of cnbc---a lot of speculation of what wynn is going to do but also read that he is going blind and i cant imagine him staying in the limelite with that facing him--other tidbits coming out of the "deal" golden nugget to be sold to cut debt art collection to be sold to cut debt--out of town properties some to be sold to cut debt.seems like a lot of insider info coming out at a point way to early in the deal.my guess--if the eyesite thing is true--wynn retires to that island paradise and liva la vida easy life

At the Mirage Resorts stockholders meeting held at Bellagio the other day, Wynn said he'll probably continue developing properties after he sells his company and steps down. However, public stockholders won't likely have the chance to benefit though, as Wynn said he no longer wants to be involved with a publicly-traded company.

Does anyone know when Mirage Resorts shareholders get to vote on the buyout?

Everybody talks as though this is a done deal. Has anybody researched what federal regulators might say about this deal?

It seems to me that Wynn was wanting a stadium downtown last year and now there's a lot of talk about it. Maybe he'll head in that direction.
