Well, the gambling on the ship was a bust! I don't recall a worse gambling experiance in memory. The progressive .25 VP jackpot was almosy at 6 grand, when it was hit while we ate dinner. Sue was p!ssed! She felt that jackpot was hers! LOL
San Jaun, Wyhdam in old San Jaun is nice. But when the cruise ships come in, it gets over run with tourists!
I like the Dimond Palace, it used to be called the Dutch Inn, it has low ceilings, small casino, but friendly dealers and locals, with $3 tables. It's not glitzy at all, sort of a low roller place. I feel comfortable here. Sue said most of the bill excepters where broken here.<S>
Next favorite is the Marriott Condado, this is the only Marriott, I've ever seen gambling offered that I know of. It's ultra clean, and is higher end as far as class. The bartenders in the casino bar are the friendlist I've seen. Also the El San Jaun, is the home of "The Palm" restaurant at the other Wyhdam on the island near Isla Verde. This place is Gambler-romantic, the kind of place James bond would be playing if he where in town. The whole place is old world class.
You can't place a bet for the dealer in San Jaun, however the way around it is to say to the dealer this is for you, and place that chip on top of your stack, then when you win give them there share of the winnings. You can tip the dealer, you just can't openly bet for him.
You can order a grilled cheese sandwich at the table games.....LV would have a fit with this!
Cocktail service is slow! Most places only allow one per hour of play! However I've been given drink chits (several at one time) to fetch my own from the bar from the floor person.
Oh, the BJ is delt a little differntly here too. The dealer doesn't take his hole card, untill everyone else has played his hand. I would guess this messes up the serious card counters at a full table? However for a basic stradigy player, I don't see where this would make a differnce?
Bahama's, UGLY! Lowest table limits where $15 but no room all jammed packed with people, the $25 tables had a spot or 2 if you wanted to squeeze in, the roomy tables? $100's. No thanks, I played a little roulette, and then some VP machines. However, Dollar play, or don't play. The quarters where horrible. I got mad at the bill excepters...most didn't work, and I got tired of hand feeding the coins into both the slots & VP machines.....I went to the bar and drank the local beer till Sue was finished. Sue actully took some of thier money home!
I'm glad to be home. I probably won't be taking another cruise for a long time. After 14, I've had my fill of the scheduling of everything, from time of port, to dinner times to what to wear on what night. I like my Vegas Vacations, because "Vegas is, what I want, when I want it" kind of town!
The end
