I took my keno-playing bro (and nephews) to our local tribal casino today. WOW! That place has really changed in the last 3 or 4 months!
Aside from getting Daisy out for some R&R, the point of the exercise was to get my bro interested in video poker (and start weaning him off Keno<g> ). The day didn't exactly go as planned since JR now has all of the latest nickel video slots (and Megabucks!). He wasn't hungry when we arrived, so I settled him in at a Fortune Cookie machine while the boys and I scarfed down breakfast. Would you believe I had "Deuces Wild?" That's a breakfast with 2 pancakes, 2 eggs, 2 sausage links & 2 strips of bacon. Unfortunately, I only had the half-size order, and that was a bad thing to do since I could only get half the dratted deuces later<g>. One of the boys had pancakes, and the other had some rather good cheese tortellini. All meals good, and the total including drinks & tip came to $19.
I settled the boys into the video arcade, which is a nice (although slightly small) set-up. It's a monitored room with the kids all wearing ID wristbands to indicate that an adult checked them in. In fact, you have to leave your car keys and a $5 deposit for the beeper they issue ....then they beep you if the kids run out of money.
I found my bro still playing Fortune Cookie, and we headed over to some quarter JOB he could get in some "live" video poker. He's not exactly crazy about practicing on WinPoker<vbg>. Most VP at tribal casinos could be called gimmicky, and these machines were no exception. The full-house, flush and straights were not full-pay, but we were playing 8 quarters a pop since that gave us a shot at the $1890 progressive Royal. Naturally, he gets a machine that keeps him playing for an hour on $20 (with a little coaching), and the "pro" sits next to him and can't get diddly.

That's really OK, since the idea is to get HIM hooked cuz I'm already hooked on VP<g>.
We finally moved on and donated a little at a quarter video slot, then we split up while I lost some more at VP, and he hits the dratted 7s on a red, white & blue quarter slot ....now I have to listen to how he's just luckier at slots and keno...AAAGGHHH! I'm glad he came out ahead, but how I wish it had been on VP!
All in all, it was a pleasant 5 hour day, and we'll do it again in a couple of months. Even though the arcade was small, the boys said there were enough games that they weren't bored, and most of the games were only a quarter ...which explains how they stayed in there for about 2.5 hours without the attendant beeping us<g>.
