Sorry, Lee ...it's been kinda hectic the last couple of weeks. I've always said my schedule isn't exactly written in stone<g>, and my five days in Nevada turned into 3 days. Even worse, my 5 days in Las Vegas in July may entirely turn into a pumpkin.
Here's a short version of the trip report ..stayed one night at the Reno Hilton and played mainly DW since that may still be the only place in Reno with FPDW. I didn't do squat on DW, but I did hit the Aces on DB.

LOL ...I definitely thought of you when I drove a back route into Reno ....drove by the El Cortez Hotel. Would you believe it makes the El Cortez in Las Vegas look very good?
One funny part of the trip was seeing the different signs claiming "voted best video poker." I saw signs for Boomtown, CalNeva and Atlantis all making that claim. Hmmmm ...who was voting and when? CalNeva has always had FPJOB and FPDB, so I didn't check that out .. in fact, the only stop I made downtown was at the Siena ...played a couple of hours of DB to see if it would lead to some brownie point offers.
I don't know how Atlantis can claim the best VP ...they do have FPDB, but they also have a lot of gimmicky machines around. The rooms are spacious and nice, but I had to laugh when I was assigned a handicap room ...waaay down at the very end of a very long corridor. Just how is the handicapped person supposed to get to the nicely laid out handicap room? This was my first stay at Atlantis, but I will definitely stay here again.
I didn't even go into Peppermill ...after all, been there, done that<g> ...but I did make a point of checking out Boomtown's VP situation, and they have improved it 100%! They had plenty of FP machines (but no FPDW). One of these days, I'm going to take them up on a free night ...supposedly the rooms have been upgraded, and they are trying to become the only 4-star hotel/casino in Reno.
OK, I ate well along the way ....a good Cobb Salad at Lindy's at the Hilton, a good brunch on Memorial Day at the Hilton, and an absolutely great Monte Cristo sandwich at the coffee shop at Atlantis. I didn't eat that well out in Fallon, but 11-hour days have a way of killing my appetite<g>. They do have a nice local casino there (Stockman's) with a steakhouse that is supposed to be good. I liked the casino because (1) it was in the same parking lot as my hotel and (2) it had a bank of FPDB nickel machines with a progressive of $260 when I got into town. I don't think I had ever seen a full pay progressive nickel DB machine before. Sadly, it was up to $290 when I left town, so I didn't hit it<g>. I lost $5 the first night and got it back the second night.
I also explored a local casino on N Virginia St in Reno, called Bonanza ....I enjoyed the local folks, and I will make a point of going back to try the Cactus Creek Steakhouse there ...highly recommended for good food, reasonable and casual ...my kinda place!
That's about all I can remember.
