   Motor City Boofay
   Motor City Boofay
Let me start by saying that I do NOT like Booofays.
The other day I was forced to go to the the one at the Motor City Casino in Detroit, cuz Fred & Beth were in town and Loretta & I wanted to see them ( I'm sure that they will post a TRIP REPORT ). I was suprised at this boofay, it was unreal at the amount of choices and freshness of the food. I would recomend eating there to anyone. Lunch was $16.95 if you took one of the old people busses for $ 5, like Fred did the boofay was free.

While visiting in Michigan we sampled their casino's. First, we took an overnighter to Soaring Eagle at Mt. Pleasant. Gambling results were a disaster. Later in the week we took a bus to Motor City. The cost was $5.00 and it included the free buffet.

We met Larry and Lorstta for lunch and agree that the food was good and the price was right. The only thing better was the company. Thanks again to Larry and Loretta for meeting with us.

Once again, the gambling results were a disaster. While in Michigan, the only machine that paid off for me was the "ATM" machine. Even that went dry later in the trip. We thought AC was bad. MI is no better.

Larry,

I ate lunch at Motor City 2-3 years ago and thought it was great. I had pretty much the same reaction as you. Surprised at the selection but especially the quality of the food. Even their ice cream machine had a very high end ice cream in it.

Daisy,

Motor City Casino is not a favorite of mine. It certainly doesn't have very many vp machines.......definitely found no full pays. Too many mechanical problems with the machines--buttons did not work, would not accept money or tokens. You see, they only use tokens and that makes it difficult for those who play up until leaving or catching a bus. I understand the lines can be quite long to redeem tokens. If I were able to use coins, I would have played much longer. Definitely did not want to stand in line to redeem and miss a bus. Do believe the casino is losing a good bit of profit by the use of tokens instead of coins. It is definitely a bus casino just like A.C. according to our bus driver. Had to use tokens in Windsor one time and never liked it then and still don't!

However, the casino management is ahead and using modern technology in its restrooms. Of interest was the green button in the womens' bathroom stalls for sanitary seat covers. Fascinating to me!<LOL> Looks like saran wrap gathered around the seat. When the button is pushed, it moves around. Wonder whether it is really a new sanitary cover or if they disinfect the old one.<LOL> Has anyone ever seen these in any LV or A.C. casinos?

Next the casino has Wave N Dry machines for paper towels. Says......Wave hand here for towels, and believe it or not, it actually works well. They were neat! :p

I agree with Larry and Jeff regarding the buffet. The food was good, but one ends up eating too much.

Oh, yes, I also lost my money!!!!

The other thing I remember about the buffet is their napkins. They're paper napkins but the quality is almost like cloth. Do they still have those?

Beth, I'm not much on public toilets...

However, the local NBC news had a short story on a set of public toilets that have a seat cover that moves around. Perhaps it is much like you described. These facilities were in the Portland Maine airport. I checked the official website for that airport and couldn't find a press release on toilets. Maybe you could visit there someday and check it out. FWIW, our local female newscaster seemed really excited about the story. I was in a work environment and didn't get to pay attention to the details, but it did seem like a kewl idea.

We have seen these "roll around" saran wrap toilets before. I just can't be sure which airport. We are guessing either Columbus OH or St Louis MO.

When we came out of our bathrooms, we were like "did you have those toilet covers?" and we laughed and talked about them for some time. What a conversation piece!

I've seen these seat covers too, in an airport, but can't place where. It could be either of Itches mentions, because we fly into both airports.
I've never seen wave & dry, but that sounds like a kool idea too.
I am turning into a germ freak. (more to come)

Personally I'm waiting for one that fluffs and folds!

And could someone remind me what this has to do with the MC boofay?

I have seen those toilet seat covers too. My guess is the Colombus airport because I've never been to the St. Louis airport. I agree about it being a good conversation piece.

I play a lot at Motor City. No 100% VP, but they do have a few 99%+ games on the triple play 25 cent machines. 9/6 JOB, as well as Triple Double Bonus and Super Aces. Add in the cash back plus the drawing entries in the giveaway promotion and you are close to 100%.

And one of those triple plays dealt me a royal for 12000 quarters. Machine 41072 on the 1st floor. Seek it out if you go there.

CN,

Sure wish I knew about machine 41072 a few weeks back. I find myself checking machine numbers in A.C. a lot because some casinos like to move machines around a good bit.
