How many of you have been shortchanged by machines while gambling and where does it happen most often? I don't usually check that closely, but lately I've heard others complaining about this very issue. Have even had to stand in a redemption line much longer than I wanted because of a customer insisting on seeing a manager before they would leave because of a short-pay claim.
The Press of Atlantic City has reported that the A.C. Hilton paid $25,000 to settle a charge that they repeatedly kept a slot machine on the floor for operation after failing regulatory inspection.
Beth I know it happens, and more then you think! I remember the old Vacation Village casino. I don't think my wife or I ever cashed out with the correct amount. However, in there defence, the cage always made good for the shortage!
The last time I was shorted in a casino, I told the cashier and she said I either left it in the tray and dropped it and wouldn't make good for it. I don't remember where this happened so I don't say anything anymore.
I have seldom been short-changed; although I am sure that it does occur. Often, when cashing out, I will stop at a pre-set amount and hit the cash button. I always have thought that it just sometimes happened? By the same token; there have been a few times that a machine paid more than it should have..I don't complain then either! I was one time watching the wife and she knew that it was kicking out like five coins instead of four. But being the kind person she is, did not say anything to anyone so as to not create trouble and work for the slot repairman..
On a recent trip at the Fremont, a light started flashing and message came on my video poker screen saying I was over paid....I wasn't! That makes you feel like about 3 inches tall!
Same happened to me one time. The machine locked up with a message "machine malfunction". Had to wait for someone to take the casino's ONE extra coin back from me. Gave me a laugh.

There is a dollar machine at the IP that on payout doesn't drop the last coin for about 3 mins. or the next coin is played. whenever I walk bye that machine I check it and uasually get a freeplay.
Lee-Pa: I/we stay at the "Fremont" and have for years. I am not questioning your story; but had you been drinking quite a lot?? I have never seen a slot machine anywhere act like that? Was it a certain type machine? Maybe you were playing one of those that I have seen on the "Travel Channel" where they show the $500 dollar ones that I don't even look at!! :p :p
Irish, I've been known to drink heavy on my Vegas trips. More so when I'm downtown (not driving a car) and I was partaking in a Margy at the time. However this was on a 50 cent video Poker machine at the Fremont, the one closest to the center bar. Security even came walking over, and I showed him my few coins and left. The flashing light was the candle on top of the machine, ya know the same one that flashes for change or a hopper fill? Lee-PA
