Mike, Fred and I have only stayed at the Showboat(on the boardwalk) and Harrah's(on the bay at the marina). We think both casinos have rather nice rooms, but have stayed at Showboat most often. Bathrooms at Showboat are LARGE and all rooms have a refrigerator. Harrah's bathrooms are small unless they've improved in the very recently opened tower. I understand the new tower at Harrah's has nicer rooms than its suites. Showboat, however, does not have very good pay tables for vp. As Lee said, most casinos in A.C. are lacking in that area. Played vp at the Tropicana this week and Fred did quite well. First we've been there in many years. I personally like the Showboat casino for its spaciousness and lighting as I don't care for casinos that keep adding on sections or are all broken up. Very difficult to locate anybody. As I said in a post recently, be prepared for noisy casinos..........especially Caesars and Showboat. To summarize, we have played vp at all of the casinos, but we find ourselves playing DJ the most. Lately, I've been doing fairly well at 6/5 Bonus Poker. IMO, the strategy in Joker Poker is tougher and I don't like having to think that hard when I'm out to enjoy myself. Remember, I only seem to win on short-pay machines. Harrah's does not have the bus traffic so we sometimes choose to go there during the day and then head for the boardwalk casinos after 6 p.m.. My directions from Philly to A.C. would be over the Walt Whitman Bridge. In case of a traffic jam, go over the Ben Franklin Bridge. The bridges run right into Rt.42 N/S Freeway and the Freeway runs directly into the Atlantic City Expressway. It is well marked, pretty direct and very easy to follow. The A.C. Expressway takes you right to A.C., and depending upon where you plan to stay, will direct you to Uptown, Midtown or Downtown. There are signs all over the place. The bridge cost is $3.00 only upon your return to Philly. There is a $2.00 fee on the A.C. Expressway, and depending upon where you exit the Expressway, you will need two quarters to drop in a bucket. If you don't have 2 quarters for tolls when leaving A.C., just ask the Senator what happens. We think Showboat(free) and Harrahs($2.00) are two of the easiest places to park. Really few are a problem other than Tropicana. There they use the same lane for up or down. It was a nightmare for self-parking. We don't valet in A.C. so I can't help you out there. Once you decide where you might like to stay, let us know and we'll be able to tell you whether you should follow uptown, midtown or downtown directions to the casino. Finding your way will not be difficult. A.C. is approximately 50 miles from Philadelphia. I believe the A.C. Expressway( EASY driving) is 42 miles of that distance. Probably will take you an hour to get there. Ask any other questions you may have. I'm sure other members will also be able to help. Do hope we get to see you in December. Beth
