   Detroit Trip
   Detroit Trip
Just got back from my annual trip to teh Grand National Tractor Pulls in Bowling Green Ohio. It's been a tradition to include an overnight in Windsor as part of this.

It had been over a year since my last visit to Windsor. When I called for a room, they told me that all my points had been dropped since I hadn't been there for a year and they couldn't even offer me casino rate.

Got to looking around for a room in Detriot and found an internet only rate for a very nice Hyatt of $80! I printed out direction. Going up I-75 we got in construction. Sat in stopped traffic for probably 20 minutes. Our exit was closed as well as the next 4! Was finally able to get off, turn around, and go back to our exit.

Thursday night we got to the Greektown Casino about 10 PM. It was packed. I tried to get in a poker game but there was a very long wait list. Settled down at a 3 card poker table that kicked my ass! Everyone was hitting except me. Finally got up and moved to a pai gow table. Won back half of my losses. The casino was really thinned out when we left about 2 AM. It seemed funny watching the guards collect everyone's alcohol at 1:30.

Friday morning was Motor City. We hadn't eaten so first stop was the lunch buffet. Sixteen bucks seemed kind of steep for lunch but the guality of food was worth it.

Took another beating at 3 card poker. Then took a beating at video poker. Are you seeing the trend here? The guy I went with was playing Carribean so I gave it a try......yep, I lost.

At least the tractor pulls were good. The tractors were fun, the food was good and it was a hot, sunny day so the halter tops were out! (ionk)

Got home about 2 AM and luckily was able to sleep in.

Lary & Wendell,

You're both right! The paybacks on everything in Detroit sucks.

Jeff,
I've been on the receiving end of a bad trip way too many times.....I feel your pain. Glad you still managed to have a good time at the tractor pulls.
Are the rules any differnt for 3 card poker or Pia Gow Poker in Detroit to make it a worse game then Vegas offers? Or was it just all bad carma in Detroit?
Thanks for the report.....so what is going to be your stratagy for next years trip to motown?

Lee,

Everything's played the same. Just couldn't do any good except Pai Gow the first night.
