Just read where many parents are already upset with the Borgata in Atlantic City as their children are not welcome inside the casino unless the parents can produce a room key. This is no different than Bellagio in Las Vegas, but it is new to A.C.. I, personally, don't think it will have any effect on the success or failure of the casino/spa. Understand many people were taken by surprise this weekend as the first few days of the opening the policy was not enforced and visitors saw kids everywhere. The management claims it just took time to implement the policy because of excitement during the opening, but it was a policy that was planned from the outset.

Understand they do have full-pay JB, but they are all at $1 and above. Have yet to check it out.

Coinless slots are the order of the day at The Borgata.

To hear things like that and being a mom..I could care less..LOL The Bellagio, for example since I know I'll never be in Atlantic City...its a beautiful hotel on the outside. They are an upscale hotel and I really cannot blame them for not wanting children to run loose, like say Circus Circus or Excalibur.

They want to attract certain types of people, just as CC and Ex. are geared towards a certain crowd. Its their policy, and correct me if Im wrong, that they really dont want children in the hotel unless they are guest of the hotel or dining in one of the restaurants.

I think its something people just have to accept. I mean I couldnt see staying at Bellagio with my child anyway because it holds nothing for her to do at her age, nor would I want to pay their rates..lol

Now if it were just hubby and I, we would probably go in and look around. I just cant see ranting over one hotel's policy when there are so many other hotels that offer a more welcome, relaxed "family" atmosphere. I think some people just look for a reason to complain.

WildAngel,

I agree with your thoughts. We have grandchildren and do not get upset because we were not allowed to take them into casinos. We believe they do not belong there. There are plenty of other places for them to enjoy.

As for taking children into the restaurants, one man at The Borgata complained that he only came to take his 13 year old to lunch at one of the restaurants and was denied entrance. Will have to see for myself on that one, but I do not believe I will be eating many $19 hot dogs while there.

Now, see I find that ridiculous that a child cant even go have dinner in a restaurant, that I find mildly discriminating. Its DINNER, food for pete's sake. Its not that a 10yr old is gonna walk in and ask for a table for one! Child would be with the parents, if the child acts up and the parents dont say anything then by all means, the restaurant has a right to say something if the child is being disruptive...but its just silly for them to deny access for a restaurant to a child. At least with the likes of the Bellagio children can stay at the hotel or dine in the restaurants. I think they just want to be respected as an upscale hotel and casino, not to be turned into a very expensive playground.

But at the same time, if I knew my child wasnt welcome, it wouldnt interest me to dine at that restaurant anyway. So I dont know the fuss, ya know? I mean really...pick your battles, one restaurant turning away kids..please. But thats just my opinion laugh
