Well I never thought I'd be thanking a TV member for a recommendation that led to a great New York State evening!
It seems that someone in the past year mentioned about Charo's show, and that it was very entertaining - her guitar playing being a highlight.
We caught part of her act on Monday at the New York State Fair. They have a stage with free entertainment by name performers, and Charo did two 90 minute sets from her Vegas show. She brought along a 4 piece band, 4 dancers, and 3 costume changes. She is a wonderful entertainer! I knew she was a great flamenco guitarist (she studied with Andre Segovia) but I had no idea she was so funny.
So thanks to whoever originally posted the recommendation ---and when her show re opens in Vegas, you might want to check it out for something a little different (and a lot less expensive than Celine I bet)
Kestal, I'm hoping her show turns up somewhere in Vegas again! I had multible chances to see her, but not since Wendell gave her show such high praise. Now I'm sorry we didn't go when we had the chance. Maybe by my November trip, she'll get a new place to play. Thanks for the review!

Thanks Kes - by chance I called the Aladdin yesterday - I wanted to book her show again on my November trip but alas, they said she wasn't there anymore - should anyone hear of her reappearancein Vegas, please post it, as Kes stated, she is not only talented but a great entertainer. Wendell

WE were so wanting to see her show before it was suddenly cancelled. Here is an update received last week from MRVEGAS newsletter: ------------------------ Charo Update
Look for Charo on your TV, not on the Strip. The once-and- future "Cuchi-Cuchi Girl" has opted out of trying to go back into the former Sevilla club, which is being relaunched as Lost City.
Charo left the bankrupt nightclub in the Desert Passage mall shortly before it closed in May. The club is now held by its primary creditor, M&H Building Specialties Inc.
"She certainly would have liked to have a permanent home here, but it's tough," says veteran producer Bill Moore, who assisted Charo in all three of her Las Vegas casino efforts since late 2001.
"Hollywood Squares" loves her and so do all the new casinos springing up around the country, Moore adds. It's less stressful to be paid upward of $35,000 for one- or two-night engagements instead of trying to lease a space and self-market a show here, he notes. reviewjournal.com -- Living: COLUMN: Mike Weatherford

I saw her a few years ago when her show was at The Venetian. She's incredibly talented and very, very funny. In fact, I could have listened to her do stand-up comedy and nothing else - I was laughing so hard my stomach began to hurt! And as Kes said, her guitar playing is excellent.

Hmmm - she talked during the show as if she was going to be opening a show in Las Vegas. Hope that will be true
As for her humor, Mike, I totally agree. She mentioned she had been asked to run for Governor of California and declined; but said she would be vice governor to translate what Arnold Schwarzenager is saying.
And, she mentioned that Dr. Ruth had attended one of her shows....but I can't print here what she said about Doctor Ruth!
