We went to AC earlier this week for a one night stay. We always get free room offers from the Hilton so we stayed there. The most we ever played there was $20 a couple of years ago, and they still send us these free room offers by postcard every month. We made the trip mainly to just get away and relax. SO very little gambling. But I wanted to check out the Borgata.
First thing to note is the parking rates have increased in most the garages. They range from $3 to $4 to $5. No matter what amount is paid, the receipt is valuable because it can be used for free parking at another garage on the same day. We went to Claridge - we like it there - and paid $4. When we went over to Borgata, that $4 receipt was accepted in leiu of the $5 normal charge. There's a deal. However, it could've been a better deal. When we checked into the Hilton, we got our parking pass allowing free parking in the Hilton garage. But attached to that is an additional pass to park anywhere for free. So we also went to Trump Marina and got to use the pass for free parking.
Can you imagine how this paid parking dilemma would work in Vegas? LOL
Borgata is very nice. More like Vegas than any other place. I heard rumors that the drinks were served full size. This is FALSE. When gambling, they bring you the same dinky size glass for beer. At least it is a GLASS and not a dixie type cup made of plastic or foam like the other casinos. Lots of 9/6 DDB in this casino. Even some progressives.
AC sure is overloaded with Wild VP - such as Jokers Wild. Also Dueces Wild. We don't play these but they are way more prevalent here compared to Vegas.
No matter how many times we go to AC, we still think the same thing - THIS IS NOT VEGAS!!!!
Also, the parking garage that collapsed at the Tropicana is still in the same state as the day it happened. This must be one heck of an investigation. In the meanwhile, there is no use of the parking garage except for the tour busses. SO all those patrons are driving around looking for street parking, or parking at the nearby garages. Makes for lots of congestion in the area and plenty of cops directing traffic in that area. What a mess.
All of our meals were 2/1 since I had the coupons from Casino Player. These are great coupons because the buffets in AC are skimpy and sparse yet are priced in the $15-$20 range. No one in AC has embraced the multi-station approach used by many places in Vegas, with the much lower prices found in Vegas. I handed out my extra coupons while standing in line to pay and the people were appreciative. One woman said they were eating on a comp (coupon generated by those computer screens) but wanted to take a coupon anyway for her next time. What? I told her kindly "no way" because I want someone to use the coupon right there and then - that's the surprise element. How greedy.
