This is the same place I got those 2 royals a few weeks ago. This time I waited patiently for someone to stand up from the only bank of 25c machines, rather than "settle" for the 5c multiplay.
I had a lovely machine that kept giving me royal flushes with deuces on DW and on BP a nice straight flush and quad kings. I played that machine 2 and 1/2 hours - the last hour plus on only $15 in. Finally had to stand up and stretch!
I played around the casino, played some $1 vp and some 5c multiplay, and a bit of slots for variety. Basically I was at the place for 4.5 hours of pretty solid play, ate a meal with my points, and left with the same bankroll I walked in with.

This is the Finger Lakes Racetrack and Gaming, in Canandaigua NY. Its about 25 minutes from Rochester.
Great coffee, very nice staff, okay burgers, lousy buffet, and about 10 FP VP quarter machines, a bunch of "gimick" VP (matchwheel?) some nickel multiplay vp. And lots and lots of video slots.
Not worth the drive if you are visiting the folks in Buffalo. Although they have opened one in Batavia, too.

Kestral - I know exactly where Finger Lakes racetrack is - I used to go there on a semi-regular basis back in my Buffalo days! The last time I was there the place seemed really rundown and the quality of horse racing was really bad. I'm glad they've turned themselves around a bit! I really wish the racetracks in the Chicagoland area would start putting in slots to get the purses up for the horses. The quality of racing here is really bad - none of the good jockeys or horses come here with the exception, of course, of the Arlington Million. It's amazing what slots have done for the horse racing tracks around the country!

Mike, did you go to Finger Lakes or Batavia? They both have horse racing. Just wondered if you drove past Batavia to choose Finger Lakes. Or - Finger Lakesis thorobred, is Batavia harness? I don't follow the ponies so I don't know too much about what it was like before the video slots.
Right now there is some sort of nonsense going on - if the horses are running at Finger Lakes, they can not show or offer for bets tracks at other spots in the country. If there is no live racing, then they can show the other racetracks. Something to do with licenses, they hope to straighten it out soon.

Kestral - I used to go to both tracks - Finger Lakes for Thoroughbred racing (when Fort Erie wasn't open), Batavia for Standardbreds/harness racing (when Buffalo Raceway wasn't open).
I went to Batavia much more than Finger Lakes (usually twice per week) since it was closer to home and I was better at picking harness races in those days. I've become much better at the thoroughbreds now and visit Arlington Park here in Chicagoland quite often. However, the quality of horse racing here isn't good anymore - the purses are too low. Most of the good stables and jockeys have abandoned us for the tracks in Kentucky and Minnesota where there's more money for them. I'm hoping eventually Illinois wakes up and allows slots to be at the tracks - that will get the purses up and better horses coming to town.
It's funny how each racetrack has its own "rules." Those ones you described at Finger Lakes don't seem to make sense.
