   Seattle
   Seattle
I hope DAG or someone can give me some advice.

I plan a visit to Seattle in January for some site seeing. I know I want to tour the Boeing plant.

What other "must-see", "must-do" things are there?

What's a good area to stay in? I don't think I want to stay downtown. Would be perfectly happy with a Hampton Inn or similar.

Thanks!

Senator, I know that DAG will tell you much more than I can, but the thing I enjoyed MOST about visiting Seattle WAS staying downtown. It is such a vital town, bustling day and evening. Tons of people around, wonderful restaurants, etc. It was wonderful. The Space Needle is fun to see, and there are a lot of great museums. One of our favorite excursions was taking a ferry to Whidbey Island and touring the winery there.
I'll look forward to hearing DAGS recommendations for our next trip, too.......Have fun! (We've stayed at the Westin twice, and enjoyed it both times) Our favorite restaurant was the Palace Kitchen just down the street. It had such an innovative menu, and we swore they went out back and picked everything, it was so fresh.........probably the best restaurant meal we've ever had. (Maybe it was the time and place, but what a memory!!) Don't forget to watch them toss the fish at Pike's Market.....Have fun!

seanator-there is nothing to see or do in seattle, that's why i go to vegas!<G> boeing just opened thier museum of flight and tour of the plant in everett,wa.skiing and snow to the east, fishing and boats to the west.metropoliton grill for a great steak, the waterfront for seafood, and the palisades restaurant for a great meal overlooking the bay.two art museums, the ballet, science center at seattle center, space needle is also at seattle center.yes you can golf in the winter here and temps will be fifty at best<G> can't help much on hotels, motels but you might consider staying in belevue wa and driving into seattle to see and do what the plan is for the day.it would be a half hour drive at non rush hour traffic time and we do have a busy rush hour.the boeing plant would also be about a half hour drive from belevue.seattle is a fun city but we rarely go into seattle, cost, parking, did that done that and the casinos are all out of town.you will have a great time

dag, we always stayed in Tukwila. Convenient to SeaTac, Renton, and Longacres. Even at Braniff, we stayed near the mall there for NFL charters to Seattle. It's not really a tourist hideout unless you're doing daytrips to Rainier or St Helens.

There used to be a Museum Of Flight at Boeing Field that was pretty interesting. They had parts of the original Boeing woodworking plant, a sharp 707 that was an Air Force One, a SR-71, and many other fine planes. Is that museum still there or did it get replaced by Everett?

We went to a dinner held at the Museum of Flight, and had dinner amongst the exhibits........they were really interesting. I was hoping that the plane above us was well secured though. smile
