Caesars has some nice suites, if you can get an upgrade from a reg room! As for the class of the boardwalk, I have to give the nod to the Hilton (old golden nugget) for gambling and lounge entertainment. I never stayed here, so no clue whatthe rooms are like. When I would pay for a room, I liked the Showboat, sparten rooms, but the price was right! Used to be a decent gamble here too, but unsure about anything current. Daughter just got back from a weekend at the Borgata, but that isn't a Harrahs hotel. Although if you go, that one is a must see!!! Be careful and mindful of your surroundings at night. Lots of interesting dive bars a block or 2 off the boardwalk, but daylight is a better time for a bar crawl IMHO.
If you go, let us know, maybe we can swing by and have a cocktail with you both, or maybe dinner.
Just don't expect it to be anything like Las Vegas.
I now D-fur current questions to Beth & Fred...

Tim & Karen,
If neither of you have trouble walking and want to stay at Harrah's, Fred and I prefer the Bayview Tower rooms over the other towers. We've stayed at Showboat many times in the past and were quite satisfied with the rooms. Never stayed at Bally's or Caesar's. As for gambling, it is hard to recommend any one place as our luck----bad or good---has been pretty evenly distributed throughout the 13 casinos. We do, however, prefer the vp at Harrah's or Borgata at the marina because busses do not overload the casinos. If you prefer walking the boardwalk along the ocean, then you might want to consider one of those casinos. Caesar's and Bally's are centrally located, and of those two, I probably would prefer to stay at Caesars. Truth is, I've never heard any of our friends complain about rooms in A.C..
One of our favorite places to eat is Pickles Deli at Bally's. Close quarters, but good food. If you want upscale, there are many steakhouses and other fine restaurants in A.C..
Shows and celebrity concerts depend upon the days that you will be in A.C..

There is free shuttle service among the four casinos owned by Harrah's, that is, Harrah's, Showboat, Bally's and Caesar's. Shuttles are named by the various suits in a deck of cards. If you do not see any signs indicating from where to where, do not hesitate to ask someone within the casino where you stay. We have never utilized these fairly new shuttles so I do not know how much wait time or travel time is involved. A.C. is not that large so it cannot be an unreasonable amount of time for travel. There ARE also public jitneys that are numbered and go to all casinos. There are signs indicating where they stop all along Pacific Avenue west of the Boardwalk. You need the exact change. They were usually $1.50 per person/per one-way trip, but may have risen to $2.00 since we rode in them. They also travel to the marina to Harrah's, Borgata and Trump Marina casinos but be sure you have the correct number jitney which will be indicated on the signs. A word of caution if using the public jitneys-----sit down and hang on tightly. Some of those drivers always seem to be a very big hurry. Summertime is probably worse than this time of year. If you have a Harrah's slot card or your free parking tickets, ask for a transfer when leaving the garage. You will then have a free parking ticket for any other casino not owned by Harrah's which will be good for the remainder of that particular day. I would ask for a transfer whenever you leave any parking garage in A.C.. Can definitely save you a few bucks. Pier 1, a new upscale shopping mall, is located directly across from Caesar's. Haven't checked it out yet, but it may even be connected by a walkway under roof. Caesar's, Bally's and Claridge are all connected by inside walkways. So are Showboat, Taj Mahal and Resorts casinos. Sometimes the weather can be nippy on the boardwalk with a roaring ocean at this time of year. If you visit during spring and summer, it's quite a plesant walk. Just watch out for pigeons. What days might you be in A.C.? Would enjoy meeting the two of you if we would happen to be there at the same time. If not, have a great trip and win lots. Any more questions with which we may help, don't hesitate to ask. Beth/Fred
