   AC....a trip report
   AC....a trip report
Well, last weekend we did something we hadn't done for a few years, we went to Atlantic City. Around 5pm on Friday we loaded up the car and drove to AC for a weekend. Sharon wanted to go to the AC boat show, that was intown that weekend, so we had tickets for that, and it was her birthday, so how could I say NO?
Well, rush hour traffic, turned into rush hours traffic. A normal 2 hour trip took 3 1/2 hours, oh joy of joys. All this, plus a wintery mix of snow and rain the whole drive.
Check in at Caesars was smooth except no smoking rooms available, Sharon was not pleased.
Dinner at Mia, a new resturant from the chef of "Le Bec Fin" fame. Dinner was freaking fantastic, spicy tuna app, was out of this world, and I could have just eaten off the App. menu. Enough about food, I'm getting hungary.
After dinner we went to the casino, and we found some quarter gamemaker machines (uprights). We played dueces, but I got board, when I wasn't getting much, so I switched to ACE$ for awhile, and I'm delt A,Q,J of spades, 2 of hearts, 6 of diamonds. I discard the 2 & 6, and up pops the 10 & K of spades. My first royal flush in Atlantic City. I was only playing a half hour at most. At this point, I should have collected my money and gone to bed. BUT NOOOOooooo!
We cash out of those machines, my arms where tired, and drink service sort of stank, as it mostly does in AC. We moved on to slant tops near a bar. Sharon gets the Dueces on her quarter machine, and here would have been another excellent place to call it a night, but NOOOOooooo!
This is where it gets ugly! Our first problem is we get a real nice cocktail waitress. So the drinks are flowing now. We play these machines till 6am in the morning. OK, now this isn't the best time to get to the room for some shut eye, but it would have been exceptable, but do we? Oh NOOOooooo! At 6am on the way back to our "room" Sharon and I spot the Dollar Wheel of Fourtune machines. We sit down. We proceed to play, I get a spin for $500, a good time to quit you say, OH NOOOoooo! We continue to play, and guess what, our drink goddess err cocktail waitress, has found us too. Sharon runs out of cigerettes, and I run to the room for more (it's 8am). While I go to the room on the 32 floor Sharon plays my machine and credits (wouldn't want the machine to cool down) ROTFLMAO The waitress is now bringing cocktails 2 at a time for each of us.
The end result, Sharon is out about $500, I gave back my $1000 royal win, and another $1400. It was Sharons birthday, and I was feeding her machines as well. 10 am Saturday morning we head to the room for some sleep. On the way, Sharon tries to talk me into going to the boat show at 10am and I said no freaking way. We where toasted!
Saturday wake up call at 2pm, Sharon would wake up, she mentioned some words that are unprintable for talkvegas, and I went back to sleep. At 4pm we got up changed to a smoking room, showered, and went to dinner on Ceasars. Played some dollar slots and a little DDB VP and back to bed.
Sunday, up at 4am, went to visit the TAJ, where Sharon seen a mouse running around the casino floor from machine bank to machine bank. Lost some more, then Ballys and lost some more, and then Ceasars and...ofcourse lost yet some more. We check out and visit the boat show. IT was sort of a disapointment, it was smaller then others we've been to, but we bought some pots and pans for the boat and I got to visit my dream boat again, a 37.8 Four Winns. We didn't buy one.
Trip home took 1 hr, 50 min.
So far the TAJ has sent me a $5 bounce back voucher! LOL

So Lee, it sounds like you had a good meal and a fast trip home. My next trip report was even less eventful, so I didn't even post it.<g>

You know, I actually had a good time even with the loosing. I was aware the whole time I was loosing while playing those WOF slots, but I enjoyed the thrill, so while it could have turned out much better, it wasn't without value to me. But again it proves I could have flown to LV and back had a room for a couple of nights and still not lost 2K.
I will go again....just not for awhile....LOL

Lee - Even though you ended up behind, it sounds like you and Sharon had some FUN! Congrats on the royal and the $500 hit on WOF. And I'm glad you finally made it to the boat show!

You mentioned you hit the royal after playing only 30 minutes. I've written about that before. On my last two trips to Vegas, I hit jackpots within my first 15 minutes of the trip. My dilemma is whether to quit or keep going. Well, I suppose we all have that dilemma!

Happy Birthday to Sharon!!

Mike - we all should WISH to have that dilemma!

On the occasions when I've been lucky enough to win something significant to me, I "try" to cash out my winnings and put it separately from my intended gambling bankroll. But sometimes you just gotta play tourist videopoker - or tourist slots, or whatever. You wanna play, you gotta pay!

Lee, it does sound like you had a blast. Puerto Rico, now Atlantic City - what's next? Foxwood? Niagara Falls? (hint hint)

That's something about Sharon seeing the mouse running around the casino floor. Yet another reason to not put your hand (or drink, or cigarettes) in the bin where coins used to fall. If the machine you're one still has 'em!

Mike,
As far as quiting, that was never on the table as a choice. My real problem was, I was loaded for bear in AC, expecting it to go really fast. I was planning on playing a little Pai Gow Poker, at $50 a hand, it can hurt you fast if your on the loosing end of that game. But, we never made the tables. LOL
Thanks for reading!

Kes,
Ya know, when I'm in Vegas, i have no problem doing just that Kes, put it aside, but for some reason AC always gets me, and this time it was because I let it get me. Being there only for a short time I think had a lot to do with my poor money management.
As for my next trip, it's less then a month away, and it's Las vegas. We have 2 nights at Caesars, and 6 nights at Main Street Station. But that doesn't mean my arm couldn't be twisted to try that NY casino, by the falls! When you come up with some dates for a mini meet, let me know and I'll try to make it! But it's got to be befor the weather turns warm, after that, all my weekends are taken!

This weekend in the mail, we received a cash voucher from Ceasars in Atlantic city, $309 to be used before April. We must have run quite a bit of money through those machines! They also threw in a free room for one night, any day of the week. Sharon called her new host (never had one at Ceasars AC). We figured, saturday would be a tough time to get, plus it's only 5 days away. But no problem! So it looks like we are going to give AC one more try this weekend!
Oh we did receive $5 from the TAJ & $5 from Ballys, I don't see us walking anywhere in this cold for $5. LOL

So Kes, to update my answer, I'm going back to AC, that will be my next adventure! LOL

Lee & Mike,

Last month I had quite a surprise from Harrah's. After spending two nights during Thanksgiving week, I received a voucher for $292. Mine was good for three months. Fred and I were shocked and our friends still won't stop talking about it. Who knows? Lee, maybe they just like us. wink

Mike & Beth, all that voucher means is we spent too much money in AC! Now they get a second crack at our bankroll, this weekend.
I don't know if I want to run into our great cocktail waitress or not! LOL
Maybe we'll be able to get on the VP machines we want to play this weekend. They have very few multi denoms on VP. Sharon plays quarters and I'm a dollar guy and Ceasars still keeps thier quarters in one spot and dollars in another. We also vowed to stay away from those wheel of fourtune machines too.

Have a great time, but how are you going to stay away from the wheel of fortune machines? I know as soon as I hear them calling, its hard to walk away.

Here's an idea to build up your resistance.

On the drive down, each of you take turns, in 10 minute time blocks, of saying to the other, over and over again:

Wheel......of........FORTUNE!!!!!

When you get to AC you will run away from those machines!

Of course at that point you might want to run away from each other, too - or at least find that cocktail waittress!
