This story seems to get hashed out every year or two, so here is the current update.

Max Baer Jr's NEW LOCATION for his Jethro's Beverly Hillbillies Mansion & Casino resort destination was released to the news media on May 4, 2007. And the winner is Carson Valley, Nevada.

Baer has the rights from CBS to use The Beverly Hillbillies theme for casinos, hotels, theme parks, restaurants, cosmetics and consumables. There is no doubt that the name of the show is recognizable worldwide. Demographically, those people who grew up watching the show are the adults of today, and are very familiar with the warmth, humor, and good old-fashioned American fun the series provided them. The name recognition is the method that Jethro Bodine

I like the town of Cason City and especially the "Carson City Nugget" as my wife once worked there. The problem in the past is there is not a Casino/Hotel in town. I don't much care for Reno anymore (I still live in the fifties) but Carson City and Virgina City are my kind of towns..Hope it comes to pass?.... cool

This sounds like a great idea for Carson City, and there's certainly nothing on this scale there, but would you believe both Best Westerns there have casinos? LOL, they certainly don't compare with most Las Vegas hotel casinos (or even Reno-Tahoe), but I stayed at one of them 3-4 years ago when work took me to Carson City, and it was really a neat little place ... good mix of slots, a couple of BJ tables, free evening entertainment in the lounge was pretty good, and it even had a very nice steakhouse.

Carson City is south of Reno, NV. I'm thinking 20 or 30 miles south. Carson City is the capital of NV. It's a short drive to Lake Tahoe and is just east of the lake and the Cascade mountains.

Two items (towns) that should not be passed if you drive to Tahoe from Reno.
They are Carson City and Virginia City. They are each fairly unique and not as grown up as Reno is...Each is a nice stop for a drink or lunch!

Ya know, I'd make a trip there just to see it, and say "I was there". Sounds like Hooters on steroids to me! LOL
Ah, Elly May! Is she still alive? She's go to be 70yrs old if she is.

When I lived in Texas, she came through a couple of times on an evangalistic type tour. She was never headlined as Elly Mae. A very religious friend would have to point it out, or you would have to read the fine print for her name, Donna Douglas...I think. She may have come through many more times and I just missed it.

Yeah, I'd make a trip to see the Hillbilly casino. The only question I have is...Why not Vegas? It's a bigger investment but I would think the return on investment would be much, much faster. And if your pockets are deep enough to pull this off in Carson City but not Vegas, perhaps you shouldn't put that much into Carson City. Surely there is an eager investment partner here in town.
