Lee, Daisy did a great job. I have to get my research manuals out for most of the questions. But it is fun to try to figure the answers out. The only one I know that probably knows all the answers is JMT. ------------------ John Moderator Dining Forum and Entertainment, Attractions and Sightseeing Forum john@talkvegas.com [This message has been edited by John (edited 10 January 2001).]

Lee and John, the fun will really start when I edit in the first correct answers, and everyone can take the "second chance" quiz of the remaining answers. The quiz is a wee bit long as it stands, but I left out so much! For example, most of us know that the Strip is not in the CITY of Las Vegas, but the government history of Clark County was a surprise to me. General Stephen Kearney took possession of the area for the United States in 1846, during the Mexican War. At that time, Las Vegas was in New Mexico Territory, and it part of Mojave County, Arizona Territory when Nevada became the 36th state in 1864. Octavius Decatur Gass was instrumental in getting the Arizona Legislature to create Pah-Ute County in 1865, and he was less than thrilled when Congress made the Las Vegas valley part of Lincoln County, Nevada in 1867.
