Beth, I don't live near anywhere<g>. Well, anywhere that you are likely to have heard of. Blackpool is about 150 miles from me, and for those of you who follow golf, the British Open is being played a few miles down the road from there.
The government has just announced legislation to relax the gaming laws in Britain, which is good news because the current rules are not player friendly, here are the changes:
You will be allowed to play as soon as you become a member of a Casino, unlike now where you have to wait 24 hours after joining before you can play, or you can get a current member to sign you in.
Casinos will no longer be restricted as to the amount of slot machines available - currently only six slots are allowed on the gaming floor. For those of you who have visited a British casino they must look like Vegas in the Sixties, table games rule and there are no ATM's allowed anywhere.
You will be able to drink alcoholic beverages at the tables - currently only Coffee and soft drinks are allowed, but it is a pretty redundant rule as there are bars only feet away from the gaming areas anyway.
Oh yeah, the first time you play in a Casino you will need to have a Drivers Licence or Passport with you for ID,unless you are playing as a guest with a current member.
Frankly, there is no comparison between the casinos over here and what you have in the States - the main games are roulette and Blackjack, with a version of Carribean stud and Punto Banco also available, there is NO VP of any description(after all, with only six slots allowed, the casinos have to maximise their returns on their machines,so they go for the 94-96% return fruit machines)
