Never had too much interest in the Yucca Mountain issue in Nevada, but an article in our local paper today may change that. We happen to have a nuclear power plant approx. 1 mile(by how the crow flies)from our home and they are now concerned that they will be out of storage space for spent nuclear fuel rods one year before the Yucca Mountain spot is scheduled to be opened in the year 2010. Many feel Yucca is the safest place against terrorism as it will be controlled by the military and beneath a mountain. However, there could be a major problem with spent fuel being transported across the country from the many nuclear power plants. Once again, Nevada is of great interest.
