   "Real World"
   "Real World"
First episode of "Real World" Las Vegas starts Tuesday, 9/17/02, at 10:00 p.m.(ET) on MTV. This series was filmed from the Palms Hotel/Casino in LV. A group of young people(strangers)cohabitate on an upper floor of the Palms which was converted into a home for the series. They usually obtain employment for a six-month period while living together. I, personally, would not highly recommend this show, but some of you might like to tune in to see just how much of Las Vegas life is intertwined. Needless to say, I'm curious as to how much of the LV we all know will be shown.

If a viewer of the series, please let us know what you think.

I taped the show from Tuesday night and watched it yesterday. They do show alot of Palms and actually quite a few outside shots of Bellagio, Paris. If it is any indication of how the show will go, one of the girls slept with the married guy on the show after only two days. They say they were drunk, using that as an excuse! The preview of the next show has the kids taking jobs and being reprimanded for doing lousy work. I'll give the show one more week before I decide if I'll watch anymore. Anyone else watch?

Itch,

We watched the show, but as I said in the other post, it is not one that I highly recommend. I was interested in seeing how much of Las Vegas would be included. When it was held in other cities, I never felt they highlighted the city enough. Also interested in seeing what jobs they acquire while in LV so I'll probably be watching a few more episodes before I loose interest.

Oh, yes, I was quite surprised to see a security guy at the Palms giving the girls money to play blackjack AND joining them in the game. Thought that wasn't allowed in casinos.........even for a TV show.

I have to admit that The Real World is one of my guilty pleasures. I've been watching it each season for nearly 10 years. I usually watch it in a state of disbelief. I'm amazed that these "kids" allow themselves to be photographed in such circumstances. The latest episode with the girl already sleeping with one guy after two days was truly amazing.

And as usually happens, they give them a job to do throughout the season and most of them end up being lazy and screwing something up. There are usually only one or two in the bunch that seem at all responsible. I wonder how these kids are going to make it in the REAL real world once their 15 minutes of fame has worn off.

That said, I thought they made Las Vegas out to look wonderful - lots of shots of the strip and the lights and fun that go with the Las Vegas experience. I'm looking forward to watching the whole season - but for some reason, I might be the only one on this Board who will do so!!

I should also add that they make the Palms out to look really great. This is quite a coup for them - they get to show off the hotel and all of its features. Last week they showed the nightclub Rain, the Ghost Bar, and their Alize restaurant. The place photographs very well.

Well, I hope none of you tuned in last night. I think the show hit about as low as it ever has gone. They must have really scraped the bottom of the barrel with this bunch of numbskulls this season. I guess if their intent was to show Las Vegas as "Sin City" then they have succeeded.

Mike,

I think it's time for the show to acquire a new name. "Real World" just doesn't make it.

Racey. "Playboy-lite". I wish these kids would start their jobs. Did I hear the preview correct - they will be planning parties?!? For the casino?!? Part of their planning better be "two girls for every boy". That's the only skills we've witnessed so far! Since they have shocked us like this during the first two episodes, what else can possibly happen? OOps, better be careful what I ask...LOL
