vpbob, the GVR Fatburger is in a "food court" so those who may not want Fatburger have the option of a Panda Express, a coffee house, and maybe a a couple of other places.

The food court at GVR is probably better ambiance than a regular Fatburger. I've eaten there 3 or 4 times. If the group is only about 6-8 people it would probably be fine. If you start getting bigger than that, it starts to become less desireable.
If you wanted to do a two teir meet, you could probably start in the food court for dining and later move to Irish Pub for drinks. Regardless, you should put GVR on your to-do list.
I need to make a trip out there about that time so I might be interested. My biggest problem is that Lee will be there.<g> He only travels to Vegas on holidays or when everything is crowded. I like to go on off-peak times.

Bob,
I doubt I'll make it but as JMT said, it's a REALLY nice food court and people would have several choices. Nice cushy chairs if I remember correctly and it's all open to the casino. If you went down at the end away from fat burger, it would be relatively quiet, too.
There's no bars real close if that's an issue for anyone.
It might still be a bit warm for this but we had a meet on the patio of Whiskey Sky early one evening. You overlook GVR's pool as well as the entire strip and downtown. It was really nice.
JMT, Sounds like a good idea. What you're telling me is there are food courts and then there are FOOD COURTS! I guess we'll have to see how the numbers are adding up. BTW labor day and the next few days are not very busy, judging from the room rates that are way down, so you can have "not busy" and Lee too.
Jeff, I hope things change and you will be able to attend. Maybe we can make semi-loose plans and let things like the weather and people attending firm them up. It sounds like Green Valley Ranch is a very nice place and would be a wonderful venue for a TV meet.
If I have a really bad cup of coffee at work that morning, I just might have to take the rest of the day off sick and the only cure just might be a Guinness at Fado's. :p
Here are my thoughts on possible lunch places. Gordon Briesh brew pub (Paridise rd) The Palm resturant (in Ceasars mall) Bull Shrimp (Green Valley Ranch)

Any place is fine with me. I'm still a maybe. The airfares are about average and Sunday is the only bad hotel rate day for that week. I might try to book something in the next week or so if I can find rates that impress me.
Hey Bob......I already have the coffee making chores at work. I make my own pot of coffee in my own office so that I know what goes into the pot. Being the supervisor, I don't take any chances with my morning coffee. :p
I phoned the Bull Shrimp and they had a recorded message saying they opened at 5PM
Checked Gordon Biersch website and they have two lunch's that apparently include a room. Cheapie is $27 and better lunch is $30 per. Includes non-alcoholic beverages, dessert and tip.
Palm has a 6 pound lobster special(for two?) that was extended until Aug 15 for $90.
I was kind of thinking lunch meet as in about $15, but I don't want to be cheap about it, so we're OK with Gordon Biersch if the others(?) agree.
Gordon breish has an excelent lunch menu at very reasonable prices. The beer is pretty darn good too! LOL
The Palm lunch menu is excelent as well with a Pix fix menu at about $16 per person. Filet minon is on that menu, can you say "freak'n bargin" However the lobster for 2 is always available and is delicious. I've had it several times and you can't go wrong!
Briesh is fine with me. My last planned meet with Jonh was foiled there by a water main break. They had to close, because of no water to clean with.

Bob,
I attended a TV meet at GB about a year ago. Can't remember what I had but the burgers looked much better. They're H U G E, and reasonably priced. A couple of the guys ordered burgers and I don't think either finished em.
Thanks for the info, Jeff. You can't beat a good burger. I'm sure a place like GB will have something to satisfy everyone. I think it's a good choice for a meet venue.
The burgers at GB are the best, they char-broil 'em and they are a very thick all beef patty. You won't be saying "Where's the beef" when you sink your teeth into this one and the garlic fries can't be beat.
With Ralph's endorsement let's go ahead with the GB. There are two of us. Are you two or three? Shall we ask for one of their small rooms or wait for the gang to decide?
vp, so far it's just us, so a regular table will do fine. They can fit quiet a large party at one round table, so it won't be a problem. Sandy, Sharon & myself will be attending.
I called and told them we would be from 5 to 10 people at from noon to 1PM. They have round tables that seat 7, so if we go over 7 they will put two tables together. They asked that we call when we pin down the number and time and I assured her we would.
I was looking over their menu on the web and it really looks good.
VP, I've not been disapointed with anything I've ever ordered there. Also the Heflweisen beer is my favorite! The only complaint I've heard is that they serve you too big of portions. I myself have never cleaned my plate! I'm looking forward to the meet!
The portions will satisfy some of the biggest appetites in town. On days that I meet Mrs. LVC for lunch at GB, she works in the Wells Fargo building one block over, I usually order the Blackened Ahi Tuna served rare with Spicy Remoulade and she orders the Gordon Biersch 10 oz. Burger with Garlic Fries and we split the burger. I also like to order the Wedge Salad Crumbled Bleu Cheese and Bacon, dressed with Dunkles Vinaigrette and split the burger with her.
Of course all of this great food goes good with my favorite brew; the Dunkles....meaning "dark" in German, it's a full-bodied, malty beer. It is the only lager beer served unfiltered, the way all beer was traditionally made years ago.
A man after my own heart. Blackened or seared Ahi. Probably my most favorite entree. I learned to eat it on Maui. I ordered it one day and they brought it rare which is the right way to serve it and I sent it back and asked them to at least warm it up on the inside. The waiter patiently explained the facts of Ahi to me and it's been a favorite ever since. I fix it at home from time to time for myself. Carol hasn't yet learned to like it. So guess what I'm having at GB?
Bob.....I fix it a home from time to time also, I look for fresh, not frozen, Ahi tuna in the local store and buy a nice thick cut. I use Paul Prudhomme's Blackened Redfish Magic
Bob, It doesn't matter so long as a time is picked. We can make it anytime.
I'd also like to point out if anyone else still cares to join us, they are welcome. You don't have to stay for lunch, just drop by for a drink and say howdy!
OK Lee, Then 1PM it is. I know Ralph is going to be too sick to go to work that day so we'll probably see him at least for the cocktail. We'd sure like to see anyone else that will be in town that day. I'll hold off on finalizing the number with the restaurant for a few days.
I called Gordon Biersch this afternoon and firmed up the reservation for 1PM Tuesday, Sept.7. The table will hold up to 8, so we can still take two more without altering the reservation. The man that took the reservation said they usually fill up so they would need advance notice if we up the count beyond 8. My mouth is watering and my intellect is piqued at the prospect of a great meet with you all
Bob, I'm looking forward to the meet as well, for many reasons. Last trip they where closed because of a water main break and John ended up missing a great meal, we quickly arranged the meet at MSS brew pub on short notice. Second, You, It's always great to chat in person with regular (and irregular) posters from the board. Third, it's been a long time since I've seen JMT. Expect a little corvette talk at the table.
It will be fun seeing you and Sharon again. We chatted only briefly at Wendell's Thanksgiving meet and Sandy wasn't with you. As far as the Corvette talk, I don't know too much about the British Navy, but I'll be happy to listen and learn.

It will be a busy day for me. My little sister and her husband will be in town. They leave the morning of the meet. I am almost certain that I will have real estate issues to attend to on that day too. And there will be other moving challenges to face. I will leave the drinking to you guys. I'll probably have to wait until later before I hit the bottle.
Good idea, Joe. You might as well get off to a good start as a sober bona fide Las Vegan. But we expect you to spend a little time at the meet with some Corvette talk. My son had one, but he sold it when the kids started coming along. I used to hear Gordon Liddy talk about his often. But what we really want to hear is an in person update on your move.
Mike, Yesterday, Sharon came home with a print out of where your machines are located in NYNY. Just incase I missed it! Looks like someone is going to NYNY this trip. LOL

Speaking of Vettes. I was sitting at an intersection about an hour ago and a transport full of new Vettes went by. They've got a burnt orange color that looked pretty good.
