how do uou carry your money? The wife and I are making our first trip to LV this Nov. and figure we will take part cash and the rest in travelers checks. I presume all the casinos will cash the travelers checks. Thanks for any responses.

Art,

Welcome to TalkVegas. Glad to have you here. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have regarding Las Vegas. We have a pretty good bunch of people here and they are more than willing to help anyone. We all love Las Vegas.

Taking some cash and carrying traveler's checks should be just fine. We have always carried traveler's checks and have never had a problem cashing them in any casino. Best trips were when we did not have to cash them, but could bring them back home with us.

I am not familiar with what is available at the Imperial Palace, but we do have some members who can probably help with that information.

Art,

You might want to check out the topic "Are You Aware of VIVA" in the TalkVegas After Hour Forum. It contains some posts that give very good suggestions on how to protect your valuables and be safe while in LV.

I take only a little cash and the rest in travelers checks. You can cash them at the casino cashiers cage. Some places do ask to see a drivers license when you cash the checks.

Art,
I take cash and use ATM's.I think Travel checks are just something else to carry and maybe lose.Try to use ATM's that are in stores or banks and not in the casino's you will save a few bucks there or if you have a debit card it costs nothing.IP location is great.Enjoy and win!!

Art, most casinos will also cash a check up to $200 with just a drivers license and a major credit card. Since you're not going until November, you could also call the casino cage at your hotel and request an application for check cashing privileges.

We've stayed in many hotels with casinos and all of them have safety deposit boxes free of charge, with a deposit for the key. Bus drivers will even warn you to watch your purses and put wallets in the front pocket, but I don't think thats just a Vegas "thing", its a large city. Don't leave anything of value in a hotel room or room safe.

I've used the safe deposit boxes at the Imperial Palace many times. It's one of the few things that always went smooth. The olny casino that handled the boxes better was Bally's, IMHO.
