Just wondering if anyone is planning on being in Vegas sept 21 to 29? I'm looking at those dates for a future trip.
My only problem is, tonight I found out Sharon has been holding out on me. It seems she has been getting offers from Harrahs that she's been keeping from me. They have been sending her invites for Tunica & New Orleans. Both offers include airfare and hotel. These remind me of the old junkets that Las vegas used to have. So now the thing is, do I spend vacation days in Vegas or do these two short trips? Hmmmm
I will be out there from the 22nd to the 25th. My wife will not be there as tis guys weekend away. Would be nice to see you two again as I only get out once a year and always seem to be missing the gang.
We'll be out a little later than that. For the first time in the last few years we'll be making a trip out in October. A fall trip use to be a yearly occurance for us but, we started getting frustrated by poor odds and high prices, so we had cut back to only one trip per year.
This year however we're making a second trip out. Not because we're back in love with Vegas but because I had made changes our timeshare porfolio and it just worked out better for us to use or HGVC timeshare on the strip rather than try to do something else with it. Next year we'll be back to only planning one week in Vegas. For that matter I already have that week reserved for March of '08.
Doug, Oddly enough, October is rarely a month I visit LV, However, The weather at that time of year is about as perfect of a time to visit. Cooler evenings are just starting, and during the day the pools are open and less crowded.
Daniel, Looks like we'll have to "do lunch"! LOL I'm still playing with dates, but under all options, some of our dates will cross! I've been looking at 21 to 27 as well.
I don't think I've ever gone to Vegas this late in September, I'm hoping for cooler daytime temps.

I think Sharon did right by hiding those offers. New Orleans is nothing like Las Vegas. Neither is Tunica. If you are really hurting for the experience, perhaps you could spend a night at Jerrys Nugget without a car and walk to a hotel. Airfare is not a valid point. You can blow that much in 30 minutes. Or you could win 10 times that much with one royal.
Summer just started. The days are already getting shorter. A night time drive with the windows down sure feels good.
Point well taken Joe! I've been to NO already and really don't need to return to gamble. Tunica, seemed interesting, but when it is all said and done, what really beats Vegas?
Well, I finally completed my September reservations. 3 nights at Caesars and 4 at Main Street Station. We settled on Thursday to Thursday this time. flying on Continental with a stop in Cleveland OH.. Anyone in town 20 to 27????
Thanks Beth, I am usually disapointed with any place except Vegas. I guess that's why I keep going back!
Ralph, We could always stop by one of your local casinos for a cocktail, and catch up one night? Or there is always November. Wendells meet is starting to really take shape.
I'll be out of town the 21st-23rd (Fri-Sun). Maybe we can hook up sometime after I get off work on the other days.
Fado's in GVRS no longer exists, they will reopen sometime in October at Eastern & Serene. But in the same location in GVRS is now McQuinn's Irish Pub, sounds like a good spot to meet for a Guinness after work.
I am still a go for the 22nd till the 25th. The only firm plans I have is Mystere on the 23rd. Any time other then the show would work for me as of right now. I am just looking forward to seeing some of you again.

Tourists beware...bone chilling temps are starting to roil in. I went to an Italian festival tonight and by midnight I needed another shirt or sweater or something.
Low 70s and low humidity made it kinda cool. And what a drastic change from not that long ago.
cannot find mcquins irish pub on the gvr website, i don't think it exists yet
I know it's not on the GVRS website, I looked for it myself. But I did go in the place last week and had a couple of pints of Guinness there. So I know it does exist, in the same place Fado's used to be.
They did a little modification to the front entrance. The entire wall was removed so it is wide open into the casino. They removed the wall that seperated the bar from the front dining area. And they moved all the high top tables to the front near the bar and entrance.
And I swear I only had two pints of Guinness while I was there, so I know I wasn't seeing things. :p

YEP...You should have seen the surprise on a few of our Harley group members this morning.
We went on a ride to Rachel, NV today and left the Iron Skillet by I-15 and Speedway at 6:00am. It was nice outside at that time of the morning in town. Some people opted to ride with short sleeves. Boy were they in for a rude awakening when we turned north on 93 (Great Basin Hwy) and headed into some altitude the temps started to drop quickly.
Those few that did not put on a jacket or some long sleeve, I was wearing a denim shirt over a t-shirt, continued to ride until we stopped in Alamo for breakfast. They looked like Harley riding popsicles, a couple of tall cups of coffee and 30 minutes later they warmed up enough to eat breakfast.
Cajun's research sounds much better than my dull phone call to GVR, but he was slightly seeing things since they told me the name was Quinns, not McQuinns.
It might be Quinns instead of McQuinns. Heck I did have two pints of Guinness while I was there and I might have seen an Mc that wasn't there. I do know that where Fado's used to be there is still an Irish Pub.

I would like emphasize that visitors check their sources for the weather and plan accordingly. In the next 7 days there will be some days with highs in the 70s, some with lows in the 50s, some with rain, some with wind, and there will be some days of near perfect weather.
See you on Monday. How long of a cab ride is it from Orleans to GVR? We decided on no car this time so I just need to gauge when to head out and how long it will take. Is there any traffic issues around 3:30 going that direction?
Best part is I am on a no-Guiness limit. 74 hours till Vegas.....So close one can almost see the neon...
I got your email, and I'm sure we'll run into each other at the Orleans, but there's a problem on those VP Pointers - I'm neither skilled enough nor presumptuous enough to tell anyone how they should gamble.
NOOOOO!! at least someone i know won it -WAY TO GO!! i'll do battle in nov. funny i was just putting together a mental gambling run for nov. that will be hooters, sams, gvr,s.point, silverton and orleans.a good day of work/fun.
What a great time we had...Daniel, Lee, Sharon, Dasiy, Joe, Me and an unexpeted surprise visit from my parents (Pappa & Momma Cajun aka Ralph Sr & Meli from New Orleans), were present. Great times, good drinks, lots of good stories and laughter was had by all.
Catching up with friends to swap war stories at meets is always fun, but I will remember this one best for seeing that big ole Cajun truck -and for finding out MammaCajun and I have a lot in common.
Yep...The big ole BOSSHOG is a hit when it takes up 2-4 parking spaces.
You ought to see the looks we get when Momma Cajun is in town and we hang her handicap card on the mirror and I put the BOSSHOG in a handicap space. :p
Then I put the 12 gauge and the 30.06 in the rifle rack and nobody messes with Momma Cajun or the BOSSHOG.
