Well JMT, here is another mystery for ya. Ever here of this one....anyone? I beleive it's behind the Rio somewhere? We meet someone here at home and he raved about the place, so we might duck in and see if it's all that!

It's a mystery to me. If it's the one I'm thinking of, I know it's location, a couple of miles behind The Rio. It is buried deep in the corner of a shopping center on the northwest corner of Jones and Flamingo.
I've been to a few others in that general area and nothing I found was worth raving about. I never had the incentive to deal with the shopping center aspect. For some reason, bars don't mix well with the shopping center atmosphere in my book. It's not a deal breaker. It's just not an ideal mix. I see no other problems in giving it a try.

It's just 2 miles from the Rio. Granted, the first mile to Decatur can seem like forever in bad traffic. From Decatur, it's just a mile to Jones.
And there are lots of watering holes along the way. You could make it a pub crawl if you wanted to. Here are the ones I have tried. At Decatur, there is a friendly little pub on the northeast side Also at Decatur, there is Ricardos (a pretty popular Mexican restaurant/cantina) on the northwest side. Just past Lindell, there is a place called Torino's that always has a sign out front saying what their progressive is at and what their dinner special is. On the northeast side of the Jones intersection is a place behind the 7-11 called Jacksons. Then there is the Spring Valley Pub on the northwest corner. And you could keep going past that. On the way back there are a few places between Decatur and Valley View.
No shortage of bars on Flamingo and it's never far to the next one. All of the ones I tried were friendly, and they all have their own special charm to them, in a bar scene kind of way.
Thanks for all the information. We sort of promissed we'd stop in to check it out. That could mean 10 min. and a coke. I don't really see a need to go driving for a bar, when your staying in a casino, unless it's something special, or for some other reason it caught your eye.

Lee, you never meet a stranger. You could strike up a conversation with some friendly folks and be there all night and half of the morning. Good news if you do. There is a Fatburger just down the street for breakfast.
And it's not all that deep into the shopping center. It just seems that way during prime time and holidays.
I said I'd stop in. I promissed "Uncle Fatty" (not my uncle) I would. I'll give a complete review of the place, upon my return for Vegas. The two bars this guy works at are clean & well run places, so I'm guessing Spring Vally Pub is the same type of place.
Ralph & DAG, if there was any naked servers or lap dances, I'm sure that would have been convayed to me, it wasn't, so I'm thinking good bar food and friendly staff....

Lee, I stopped by the Spring Valley Pub after seeing Vinnie Favorito last night. I don't think you would like this place in the winter. It is a serious Dallas Cowboys fan bar. Maybe it gets milder after the season. And I'm still not a fan of it's location in the inside corner of a shopping center.
On the plus side, it is a clean and well run bar. It is open and spacious (as bars go). There is a lot of bar area. They have video poker up to $2 level. They have progressives. Sorry, but I didn't really study the paytables or games. Being the holiday season, it's hard to tell what it looks like on a normal day. There seems to be a lot of wood and ceiling fans. Plenty of TVs showing sports. The bartender was friendly. I think he was just part time though during the holidays. I'll give 'em another shot after the holidays and maybe try some food.
Ooooo, as you probably know jmt, I'm not a Dallas fan.....I'm from the other side here in Philly! I don't have any problem enjoying a clean and friendly bar, no matter what team they have all over the walls. I probably wouldn't be welcomed with my Eagles jersey on game day, but I except that! LOL I didn't think you where a big fan of pro football?
