New Years Eve On The Strip
New Years Eve On The Strip
We survived it again and managed to get home early this year.

We arrived at the MGM Grand parking garage about 9:45pm. Still plenty of parking spaces on the top floor for a great view of the midnight fireworks display.

We parked the truck directly in line with the down ramp to the exit of the parking garage. This turned out to be the best move we made in years. As soon as the fireworks started we started the engine. As soon as the fireworks ended around 12:10am we booked out of the parking garage and was home in 20 minutes 12:30am. Unlike last year when we waited around until 1:00am to leave, (BIG MISTAKE) and it took us nearly three hours to get out of the parking garage.

We avoided most of the crowds on the Strip by staying away from it. Only crossing over Tropicana to go over to H@@TER's Hotel & Casino for a late night bite to eat.

Since it was NYE and there was another driver, not me, I fell off the wagon and had several Sam Adams with the wings and french fries at H@@TER's. When we arrived back at the house I had a 1/2 gallon jug of dark chocolate stout I picked up from Barley's. After all that beer and fried food my glucose level went through the roof. eek

It was worth it and we all had a great time. Now I'm back on the treadmill and hitting the weights to get the glucose levels back down to normal. wink

Yeah Jeff...It was one great night for me, but my blood glucose levels let me know that I cannot do this routine very often.

Last night was the first night I got the BG back down under 100 mg/dL since NYE and it took a lot of work to do that.

My next planned falling off the wagon, if I don't have a meltdown sooner, will be the first weekend in March when NASCAR is in town. I just cannot see myself going to the races and eating nothing but salads and drinking iced tea, while all the other rednecks are drinking beer, eating turkey legs and pulled pork sandwiches.

Well, you better take care of yourself Ralph!
I'm going to be curious how the boating goes with this new diet of yours.

Lee...I'll just have to give into low carb coctails, like Jack & Diet Coke. laugh

Daisy...I'd have to have glucose levels 10 times the norm before I'd give into that form of exercise. :p
