I take it you weren't thrilled with Flickr either? I don't need that much on-line photo storage that I'm willing to pay for it, but I have a friend who feels it's worth the $25/year over at Snapfish - She's been using it a couple of years with no complaints that I know of.
You might try your Yahoo ID at Flickr ... I think they automatically moved files over for a limited time. I just checked my info there and was informed my "Pro" account had expired. Their Pro accounts run $25/year and give you unlimited space (10MB/photo) - the free account allow 100 MB uploads each month with a 5 MB/photo limit and a few other restrictions.

I was just looking to buy something on eBay. It had a link to more photos on a site called webshots. It "seemed" to be pretty familiar to use and had a lot of features. I don't know what the details of their price structure for free/premium memberships is.

I use Webshots and Kodak Photo Gallery. I have also used Flicker. If you post on webshots, the pictures cannot be downloaded to another message board, but can be downloaded by anyone looking at them if you leave them "public". Both of the above sites have facilities to make them private, so people viewing your pictures would have to have a password, and both let you post publicly. I have posted some cruise ship photos publicly so that those looking for ship info can see them. I have also posted some family stuff private. They both offer free storage as well as pay storage for more storage. I pay for webshots and Kodak. Kodak is new to me, but is a bit easier to upload onto. Flicker I used a couple of times, the free part, just to upload a picture from Flicker to a message board.
