   Encore ..... $600+ a night!
   Encore ..... $600+ a night!
Checking out Wynn's new Encore web-site, it appears that the room rates will start in the $600+ per night range.

Can anyone keep us all informed if and when Wynn.dot offers a more reasonable room rate after their grand opening in February 09?

Anyone have any advanced information on what the Encore will look like on the inside? It appears to me that they will use some sort of "butterfly/flower" theme (as it appears on the new web-site).

How about the entertainment? WIll there be a new showroom? Big name entertainment? Broadway show? Cirque du Soleil attraction? Resurrection of Sigfried and Roy, Michael Jackson, or possibly Babs? Any suggestions?

Will the Encore present anything new and unique? Something we have never seen before?

And most of all will they offer a great pastrami sandwich similar to the DAGWOOD style libation they serve at the Golden Gate on Fremont Street? Or will they continue to march with the embarrassment of a pastrami "thing" we recently ate to the tune of too much money?

Looking forward to a visit to the Encore. And I do plan to let the world know about their new pastrami sandwich.

Steve said in an interview that it would be unlike any other resort you've ever seen. It is supposed to be all suites (which might explain the price), whereas WynnDot has regular rooms on the north side and suites on the south side. He said the casino will have live plants and a big glass wall overlooking a nature setting. The Spamalot Theater will be cut off from the WynnDot and will be accessed through Encore. The theater will feature Danny Gans.

I don't do pastrami.

Thanks, JMT, but still nothing offered to encourage me to pay $600 plus a nite. I'm sure that they'll be offering "special deals" once the hotel opens. Do you think anyone can fill a Las Vegas hotel to 90% capacity at $600/nite?

They may get 10% paying $600/nite. 50% comp with a million dollar (or more) credit line and known busy players. 20% comp wannabe whales. 10% big names in the public eye. 10% bait fishing.

Seriously, I don't know. I think they'll do just fine without my money. Since it is suites, they will have less than half as many rooms to fill as WynnDot. Even when fishing, I don't know if you are a target customer and I know that I am not. I think they'd rather have someone that can play all week at $500 per hand/roll/spin as opposed to someone who worries about $600/night.

Hopefully they will come around and try to lure the common man. If they don't, it might be a sign that the economy is getting better.

Or, to put it another way, maybe they'd rather have someone who can play all week at 250 Pounds / 315 Euros / 50,000 Yen per hand and not worry about dropping 300 Pounds / 375 Euros / 60,000 Yen per night for a suite. When we visited the Wynn (just visited, not stayed at) last year I was struck by how many foreign tourists were there. As Americans we seemed to be in the minority there. As long as the Euro and the Pound, etc. are so strong against the US dollar, Encore shouldn't have a problem filling the rooms with overseas guests.
