Every spring, responsible locals get their score cards out and start a new count of children drowning in pools and children that die from being left in cars as the result of irresponsible adults. The pool count got off to a fast start this year. There is one high profile case of a child left in the car with lots of interesting twists in the story. Don't get me started or I'll be typing all day.

So yesterday, I was having breakfast at the new Egg Works. It was about 8am and temp was almost 90 degrees with a hot sun beating down. I noticed a waitress going around asking everyone if they had a white car. They found the people at a table across from me and told them the two officers at the door wanted to talk to them. One of the officers was holding a dog, which was alive.

The police told the guy that it is against the law to leave your pet in a hot car.
The guy who was having breakfast kept saying "what did you do to my car?"
The police told him it was their first duty to rescue the dog, and second duty to find the owner.

I didn't see the car, but the owner seemed more concerned about the car than the dog. The argument was about to get animated before the officers convinced the guy to take his dog and leave.

After that, the officers had a nice breakfast at the Egg Works.
