Luxor and Madalay Bay are way out of line IMO.

I would chose the Orleans, based on the good reports I've read about the rooms and food. Would you be able to get them to change the $99 rate to the lower casino rate based on your play?

Dumbluck,

Don't know whether you get the Casino Player magazine or not, but there is a nice article on The Orleans in the August issue.

For those of you who are not aware, slot club points are earned at Barbary Coast, Gold Coast and The Orleans according to "coins out" instead of "coins in". If playing slots or vp with a card, be sure you do not remove your card until every last coin has dropped into the tray at these three casinos.

Dumbluck,
Yes the Orleans looked like the best, untill I got a casino to comp both nights...that's when I stoped searching for rates! <VBG> Free usually wins, unless it's a dive, then I won't stay, because I'll have to hear it from my wife the whole time! LOL

John,
differnt rates, I'm guessing depended on, what the differnt hotels had going on for that weekend.
I had the biggest gripe with the downtown places that needed a 3 night stay....who do they think they are?

Beth,
It's not just coins dropped in the cash-out bin. It's winnings (credits) in general. Doesn't matter if you cash-out with money, points are paid on wins/credits won.
At least that is the way I always understood it to happen.

Thanks.

Lee,
Mandalay Bay,Lux,Trop.Who are they kidding.I still can't fathom that there isn't price fixing in LV.That's why it's bad for us when 1 or 2 owner's run lot's of casino's.The Trop.etc.getting those rates is insane!Orleans has it heads over many of those overpriced dumps IMHO.

Well glad you got the best rate in the end.The "Free" rate.BTW where is it t? TTYL.

Beth and Lee, When playing at Orleans, would it be a benefit to cash out everytime you hit a quad and then remove your card and then start all over? It seem that you could slant the system to your favor if you would do this. I admit I don't understand the policy or why Orleans would do things in this way.

John,

Would never hurt to try. I'll give it a shot on the next trip. Now, all I have to do is figure out how to get the "good" hands.<s>

Bob G,
Main Street Station, came through for me again.
But to tell the truth, If I could have snagged a decent rate from one of the newer properties, I probably would have went with them, just to try something differnt. I feel I'm sort of in a rut, with my hotel selection.
I also plan to scout out Mesquite this up coming trip too, That might be a solution for those first 2 nights of a 9 nite trip, that Flamingo doesn't want me. <S>

John,
2 things come to mind....

#1 you have rotten luck with casino's <VBG>

#2 are you sure when you call they are checking your slot play on the card as well as your table play?
Wife plays nickle VP triple play
I play quarter bartop & $10 BJ and have no problem. However, we play for real long streaches at a time sometimes.

John,
Don't even try to figure out these places and how they treat the customers?? I tried booking Monte Carlo once and couldn't even get casino rate? I played there a lot? Anyway I called for my Nov.trip and I got $49-nt.rate?? I didn't play that much at NYNY.and had no problem getting casino rates there? MGM also gave good rate but it's just too busy there. If I was stuck it might be ok? But I think I will be trying the newer places soon.Venitian,Paris,Alladin etc.TTYL.

I have the Orleans booked for $59.00 during latter September. (I try to stay away from dates around labor day when prices shoot up.

Wendall,
I agree with your stratagy, But I'm always trying to strech my wifes vacation time by encluding the holiday in our trips.
Next year she gets an extra weeks vacation....she asked if we are going to switch and go at differnt times of the year to Las Vegas....I said heck no...we'll just go more often!

Sounds good to me Lee. Anytime is a good time. I certainly have paid more just because I had the itch. Gets in your blood, doesn"t it? Wendell

Wendall,
I truely love Las Vegas. Not for just the gambling or constant action. But for some of the good people that live there too. You see, a few years back, I crossed over a few relationships, from just being friendly to being friends! The whole town I see a little differnt now, because I have friends that we hang out with when we are in town. I see a differnt Vegas then most tourists.
I know we have a couple of regular posters on TalkVegas from Las Vegas, and I'm sure they understand better, what I just said. But this last trip when we where invited over for a 4th of July picnic, (that I couldn't stay too long at because I had a Talkvegas meet planned) was so nice. I really do hate to go home.
