Good to hear that the Gold Spike is open once again. But this time it's is a new and better format. (So they say!)

I was a great fan of the Spike in its' older, grungier days, so I'm looking forward to a return visit to see what they possibly could have done to dress that old sister up and become presentable.

The Gold Spike re-opened last week with a nice mix of video and reel machines, hand-picked for the "discriminating" player. If I knew exactly what that meant, someone just might get a punch in the nose just for old times sake for that word just don't fit what that place used to be or exactly what the customers strived for.

Anyway! - You can get a promotional T-shirt if you are an "astute" player. (I was one of them once upon a time I think!) And get a chance to win at a giant wheel for $2 to $50 of free slot play and when you cash out (if you're astute enough), a cashier lady will come to you personally and pay you off. A nice personal touch for discriminating players who are also astute enough.

ANd the pizza lounge is presently open for your convenience.

And all of this is just the first phase with more to come such as live blackjack. roulette, LeRoy's Sports Book, a bar and restaurant, and even a swimming pool.

So if you wanna find me badly enough and wanna look hard enough, I'll be here at the bar having a martini or two (once they start stirring them) and talking to anyone who wants to listen to how this old place really used to be and what happened to those old time Las Vegans who are no more but used to love this place almost as much as I did.
