Saturday, we had some time on our hands after checking our boat slip in MD, so Sharon & I decided to stop by AC on the way home. (AC is NOT on our way home) It's a 3 hr drive that isn't really a lot of fun from where we are in MD.
Sharon says she should have called her girlfriend Joanne to tell her we where heading for AC, but she never made the call. She does make a call to Harrah's and they have a room (RFB) for us, so off we go. They make reservations for us for a late dinner at the steak house (9:30pm). We arrive at 6pm, we are given the new tower (water tower?) Very nice room, and we are starving, so we hit the Diamond Club lounge, I stuff myself, it's now 7pm and we eat DINNER at 9:30, this ain't gonna be pretty. Anyway, there is still no smoking inside Harrahs anywhere except one smokers lounge. It's a bare bones deal, no drinks, no TV, just a couple of chairs and some ash trays inside a frosted glass room, in the center of the casino. I play some quarter slots while my honey is inside the 'lounge". We strool around the place, and it's a Saturday night and it's noticeably an off weekend night for them. Places where we like to play are empty, cocktail service is much faster & friendlier. 9:30 dinner, I am still stuffed from our snack, we wait 1/2 hr to be seated, it's now 10pm, I order just soup and clams casino. The Crab corn soup was excellent, the clams, the worst I've ever tasted. Sharon had a salad and lollipop lamb chops appy. We waddle out of the place and head to the casino.
Here is where it gets freaky.
On the way down the escalator sharon says, that person looks like Joanne. We can only see the back of her as she is chair dancing to the music. We walk around and there she is. Sharon and Joanne visit and we are introduced to Joann's friends, I take a walk and loose some money in some very mean slot machines while they catch up. After a while I join them and Joanne tells us that this is her second night. We ask if she is in the new tower, and she says she was the first night, but she had to move when she asked for a second nights stay. She tells us she had a wonderful room too! #25099......What makes this so freaky, is room #25099 is our room! WOW, what are the odds of that??? Sharon had to prove that was our room number because they didn't believe us! LOL
Later we found some 5 play VP, and I pretty much grew roots, playing till 2:30 am. I got deuces one time, and I beleive Sharon got Aces on her double bonus machine 2 times. But in the end we gave it all back. Final count for the evening, I'm down about 300 bucks and Sharon is down $15.
In the morning we finally make our way down and check out. Then we have a comp for the Brunch buffet. $29.95pp this thing sells for, so I was expecting something I could live with. WRONG!!! Most of what we took was either soggy, over cooked, or dried out and tasteless. The one item I enjoyed?, the made to order omelet.
After that meal, we hit the machines for one last time. I went back to my 5play machine and up'd my play to the dollar level (not the smartest idea in the world), lost another $300 and quit. We hit the 2 Red Hottie machines with a twenty each and out the door we went. I left out $620 and sharn thinks shes even.....EVEN. In any event, this was our best luck in AC in many visits.
We have no urgent plans for a return trip, but the winter is long, and the boat show is in February! LOL

So was Joanne on a comp too? Is she Super Platinum Plated Diamond Star status like Sharon?

That is quite the coincidence, especially since the place wasn't packed.

JMT, I am guessing Joann and Sharon are close as far as how much per year is spent gambling, from what I can gather. It seems we get the same offers a lot. But you know, asking how much someone gambles can be a kinda sticky question, that often goes unanswered.
What I find odd is they had asked her to move when the room really wasn't needed. After all, we only called for a room around 3pm. What would have been the harm letting her stay in that room, and giving us whatever was left at 3pm? It just seems they went out of their way to inconvenience Joanne, by making her pack up and change rooms.
I just don't understand what all Harrahs does sometimes.
