The World Series of Poker is underway (yet again) at The Rio. In an effort to stretch the marketing dollar as much as possible, this event started in July. To prove that they can squeeze blood from a rock, today is the final table but the event will stop tonight and resume again tomorrow.

I'm not a poker player so I don't know if this schedule is good, bad, or indifferent to the players. I'd rather start and finish than drag it out so the TV stations and publicity people can hype it. OTOH, that probably means more money.

The WSOP website has play by play coverage and if it isn't being broadcast live, I'm sure it will be on TV for replays. This is really a big deal in the city and in poker circles around the world.

The winner of this years WSOP was a 22 year old fron Denmark, Peter Eastgate, who won over 9,000,000.00 This makes him the youngest player to ever win the WSOP main event beating out the poker brat, Phil Helmuth, who was 24 when he won it.

They can keep track of the number of hands played but they don't bother and they do not keep track of the winning hands. I know there was four aces beat by a royal flush and many, many, many more bad beats throughout the course of the tournament.

wow 4aces beat by a royal!got to be the most unluckyest player in the world.i wonder what the odds are on that.the guy with the 4 aces better find a new line of work with that kind of luck.i watched the final table and it was good luck more than skill for the winner.i could have won the nine million with those cards but then i wouldn't have been at the final table!
