I've spoke of Kilroys before. It's a pub and grub with 2 locations. I have not been back to Kilroys since the smoking ban. They were the first to shut down their kitchens when the ban was imposed and they were slow to reopen in compliance with the new law.
Kilroys has a few strikes against it. It's decor is horrible...IMO. Light woods with 30 year old movie posters with the Where's Waldo guy in them. Their serving baskets are plastic and wicker. They use plastic forks. They don't have milk shakes.
What they do have is the best burgers in town for about $10. Yep, better than all of those $20-50 burgers on the strip. If there is a better burger in town, tell me where it is AFTER you have tried Kilroys and tell me why it's better. There might be an old BBQ shack in town that just happens to make a better burger. I haven't found it yet if it's out there.
A Kilroys burger is about a half pounder that is thick and flavorful. it comes with romaine lettuce, tomato, and a red onion slice on a nice soft toasted bun. It used to come with a pickle and peppers. The menu now says if you want a pickle, just ask. (I missed that on the menu when I ordered). Mayo is on the side, ketchup and mustard are on the table. All drinks come from the bar, so your drink choices are somewhat limited.
They do have a variety of about 15 different ways to have your burger with some of the semi exotic toppings and a few other sandwiches. They have chicken wings and tenders. They have a few salads, a variety of fries, and maybe a few other items.
If you want a really good solid burger, Kilroys has two locations. The original is on Buffalo, just north of Charleston behind a 7-11. Their kitchen opens at 11 am. The other location is on Grand Canyon, which is near Flamingo and 215, behind a Sears. Their kitchen opens for dinner around 4 or 5 pm.
I still maintain a list of burgers to try. It's gonna be hard to beat this one.

Tommy's opened up just about a year ago I tried it. Old timers tell of another location somewhere around E Tropicana that closed some years ago. I'm sure it's typical Tommy's so if you liked it before, you'll like it now. It has a cult following every bit as strong as Fatburger or In n Out. It is a basic burger joint with chili on everything. I couldn't tell you if the burger was any good because there was chili all over the place.
I can see why people like it. I'd also stop short of calling it a good burger. It's a chili festival. It's fun and entertaining and a pleasant change from pizza. It was very crowded when I ate there back when it was still pretty new.
I needed some Rolaids after I ate there.
I found my report on it from February of this year...
Yes, I ate at Tommys. I am not sure if ate is the proper word. I went in, ordered a meal, got my meal, and attempted to eat it. It's a very sloppy meal and I got it on my hands, face, hat, shirt, pants, etc. The number 1 combo is a double cheeseburger, fries, and soda for $6.45. The proper way to order is to add chili and cheese on the fries for another dollar or so. The burgers come with mustard, pickles, onions, a thick slice of tomato and chili. I don't think it had lettuce. I honestly could not taste the meat of the burger. The chili was gushing out everywhere and drowned out most of the flavors. The chili cheese fries use a slice or two of American cheese on the fries and cover it with chili. It's not bad. It's just too much chili. I ended up wearing it, I think. So it doesn't compare to FB at all. Again, think small burger like In And Out, add a bunch of chili. Their fries are just frozen and cooked in canola oil. They are much better than IAO fries...IMHO. I won't be making any special trips to Tommys, but I thought the IAO fans might want to start a burger war. Tommys promises more locations in the Vegas area soon. The chili taste kinda like Hormel canned chili. It's nothing like the grainy sweet Cincinnati chili. It's like what I hope to find on a chili dog if I were to order one. If anyone wants to find the place, at St Rose Pkwy and Eastern, there is a big hospital on the south (sw) part of the intersection. Tommys is to the far side of the hospital on St Rose.
