   No more Tim the Dealer
   No more Tim the Dealer
Last Wednesday I and 5 other dealers from my shift were let go from Horseshoe Hammond. The place went through a round of cutbacks about a month ago, where they wiped out a lot of mid-level management. The weak economy is hurting them, though, and they had to do some more trimming. The 6 of us who were let go were released exclusively due to the fact we had so little time with the company, said the executive who broke the news to us.

They also said that if positions for dealers open up in Q1 of 2009, we are more than welcome to apply and will get consideration ahead of newbies who have to go through dealer school.

At least I won't have to work this Christmas.

It was fun while it lasted.

Cheers,

Tim

Oh, Tim, I'm sorry! Little did they know that not only were you a great dealer, but a premier public relations expert, too. They were missing a bet there.

Tim - Sorry to hear the news. But I'd bet that they'd take you back when some turnover occurs. They invested a lot of time and money in training you. And it sounds like you're a good dealer and well-respected by your peers.

So what will you do during December? Relax or seek other employment?

Good luck to you and happy holidays!

Mike

If you live in the Chicago area, you may have heard that Harrah's Horseshoe Casino in Hammond, Indiana, is undergoing a huge expansion. They're looking for an additional 200 table games dealers for when the new boat opens in the next few months.

So yours truly applied for a job with them...

...and got it! MAY 19TH 2008

Man, talk about a bummer. Sorry to hear this Tim. You worked so hard to get the job it's tough to have it pulled out from under you so quick. If you liked what you were doing go to a website called casinocareers.com and they list a lot of casino's that are looking for workers.
If you don't mind relocating it may be a new opportunity for you. Here's one example that was on there.

Blackjack Dealer, Cache Creek Casino Resort, Brooks, California 12/04/08

Keep the faith and you will be just fine.

Oh Tim..... I am so sorry to hear this news.
Sure hope things turn out for the best. Would you have clout at any Harrahs property, or just the one you worked at???
Please keep us posted, I so enjoyed your daily life as a upcoming dealer.

Not to get off topic but can you believe that whole Blagojevich thing? What an embarrassment to Illinois!

I don't completely understand the embarrassment except to separate corruption from Obama's name. I also don't completely understand everyone jumping all over Blagojevich. You can't have an auction without AT LEAST 2 bidders. It's starting to leak out slowly as the guilty are managing their excuses. Blagojevich is far from being alone in this deal.

Back on topic<g>, There might be several job openings for Tim in government before this is over.
