I think it said on the website that the small RV, which is what the special is for, gets about 14mpg. The larger the RV, the lower the milage. Our big 36 footer gasoline engine got about 8 mpg, and our little van Class B built on a Chevy 3500 Express platform gets about 16-18 mpg. Other variables apply, as usual...........weight of "stuff" an people (and in our case, dogs) inside, wind, etc, etc)

I definitely read a bit more on this offer, even though it was a long shot. That 7-day minimum comes with 2000 free miles, but the offer changes a wee bit after that - the daily rate goes up to $125, and mileage is 32 cents per mile. There is no drop fee, and insurance is included. The shortest trip (South Bend to LAS) is 1735, and the longest trip (South Bend to Oakland) is 2200 miles - assuming you took a straight freeway drive with no detours and not much in the way of sightseeing. You have to put in a request; there are a limited number of vehicles; the offer can be withdrawn at any time, and travel must be completed by April 30th. Even with all these restrictions, I agree with DAG that it is a helluva deal. It's win-win; the company makes a little money and repositions the units, and the traveler could have a great trip for one-way fare, food, $128 and about 128 gallons of gas. If I did something like this, those extra miles and days would add up - like I said, there's a lot of country I haven't seen. :)
