I've eaten here several times with mixed results. I never had a bad meal or bad service. It's just that sometimes all the factors add up to being better than other times.
Each dinner now comes with bread, a choice of 4 different salads, julienne veggies, and a choice of potatoes. Their prices have gone up, the menu has changed, and the online menu is worthless for planning ahead. A lot has changed in the place and a lot is still the same. My favorite meal there, the chicken fried lobster is still on the menu.
I went there last week to try their prime rib. I got the large cut of prime rib for $46. The caesar salad was just okay. The baked potato was good, but on the smallish side. The prime rib was very, very good.
The prime rib cut was about 4 inches thick. It was a whole fork thicker than Jerry's Nugget. I ordered it medium rare. I came reddish pink and warm. And this prime rib was real good meat. I was worried about eating a roast, but it was indeed a steak. The outer part was very well seasoned and delicious. The heart of the steak was just right.
This report is for dag, and I offer him the comparison that this steak was much more than twice as thick as his favorite $20 steak and every bit as good, if not better tasting than his current favorite.
So if you know anyone like dag that loves prime rib and lots of it, this might be a good place to get a heaping helping of delicious prime rib. It will stand as my favorite for now.
Next time I run across a discount, I plan to try the 22 ounce porterhouse steak.
