I'm not much of a gambler any more. I've gone from seriously playing a couple of hours a day to almost nothng. Maybe a $5 bill here or there, sometimes a $20 if I can't find any 5 cent machines. I've found myself using VP to break $100 bills. I'll put a $100 into a machine and play 5 cent credits till I get down to $90 or up to $120.
A couple of weeks ago, I was at the Palazzo, inserted $100, and played some quarter VP. I hit a few good hands was up a couple of hundred dollars and hit cash out, got my ticket and was walking around killing time. I was looking at the various VP options and saw a bank of machines that just had Jacks Or Better only. I thought that was strange, since it wasn't a progressive. I noticed it was on $2 per hand but saw a 25 option, so I decided to play some 25 cent VP. I put my ticket in, won a few hands, lost a few, looked down and I only had 23 credits. I was in the middle of hand and had just been dealt 2 pair. I thought that I should have about 1000 credits. Something was wrong. I hit the attendant call button, figuring the cameras and paper trail would show what I had done. The attendant came over and pointed out that I was playing a 25 DOLLAR game, not a 25 CENT game. I thanked the attendant and as I went though a huge variety of emotions. I finished the hand but didn't get the full house. I cashed out immediately and was still shaking from playing $125 per hand.
This week I went to the Hilton to see the Scintas. I had to pick up my ticket within a certain time frame that left me an hour to kill. I found a machine with 5 cent Deuces Wild Bonus. It was a long up and down session for me, as I usually don't play for an hour at a time. With about 2 minutes left before I was to cash out and go to the show, I hit a royal.
I still don't consider myself a gambler and haven't changed my habits. This streak of dumb luck was pretty nice though.
