   State Bug
   State Bug
Times are tough, the economy is in the toilet, and we can't get enough money in the state's budget to hire teachers and educate the kids. Our governor is busy padding his own nest.

So a few months ago, a state assembly woman and a state senatorette co-sponsored a bill to select an insect to represent Nevada. The bug will now go into state legislature for discussion and a vote to become an official symbol.

The bug chosen was a dragonfly called a Vivid Dancer Damselfly. The females are brown. The male sports a nice vivid blue color.

I have not heard if this fly will become a protected species as it eats our vegitation.

I am very proud of our state for finally taking action on our lack of a state bug. This is just the shot in the arm we needed to get our priorities in line. The next time you see a Vivid Dancer Damselfly, I'm sure that you too will think of the state of Nevada.

I am going to go out on a limb here with the little knowledge that I have on bugs. Dragonflies need water to propagate? I believe in the larva stage? OK, I think Nevada, I'm thinking desert and sand. Not water. Do a lot of these bugs happen in the LV area?
I guess the scorpion isn't a bug, but that would be a cool state thing. Put that on your state flag Nevada! But again, with all the hotels and restaurants wouldn't the cockroach or maybe even the bedbug be a more suited state bug?

It's nice to see the state working on the important issues, the things that really matter. Housing, urban blight, homeless...ah, those things don't matter, and besides they arn't pretty little bugs...Aaaaaaa!

Remember when Kestral opened the door to her balcony at Imperial Palace and encountered a bunch of bugs? I can't remember what those bugs were but maybe the state assembly should consider those as well. After all, they seem to like the tourists! wink

Those were locusts. They eat everything in sight when they are in feeding mode. they would be a good bug to represent the typical buffet eater.
