   Herbst Files Bankruptcy
   Herbst Files Bankruptcy
Herbst Gaming is reported to have filed bankruptcy today. And I didn't even know the courts were open on Sunday. Anyway, they Herbst will keep it's slot route and operation of Terrible Herbst, the Primm resorts, and other operations will go to the creditors for Chapter 11 reorganization.

There have been a few local media stories on local casinos. They are having better local deals, better dining, and better gaming paytables than the tourist casinos. The ones with the best deals are the ones that doing the best. They are also claiming that the tourist casinos are tightening paytables and schedules, which is something that local casinos can't get away with.

I've never thought about Terribles as a locals casino. Maybe it is. They do have a lot of food specials, VP specials, and gas giveaways which is popular with locals.

I've never understood 3 resorts in Primm. Are they locals or tourist joints? They make great offers for Las Vegas locals with free shows and free rooms. It still doesn't attract me.

I visited the Primm resorts 2 times for a day trip in over 20 years of trips to vegas. It's a one time thing for most steady vegas tourists at best on average.
For locals, I don't see a draw, unless you like long drives for basically nothing. The roller coaster is nice, one time, but I don't see the attraction.
California tourists, why stop here except for a restroom break? With the casinos closer to them, with all the indian gaming, I don't see the lure here they once had. It's plain to see they are having trouble filling the places, when they offer room rates at under $20.

I have always thought of Terribles as a locals joint. But without any real draw. Cheap food, ain't going to cut it, it's got to be good too. Service has always been lacking as well. I know, I've quit stopping there a few years ago. Too many better places to spend my money IMHO.
If I recall correctly, didn't the old Continental have the same trouble drawing locals too???
