A lot of big local names were in the news recently. But the news was not pretty and the big names probably don't care.

Top of the list for most water used is the prince of Brunei who's 16 acre compound in Spanish Trails uses the same amount of water as over 100 average homes in the valley.

The list continues with the usual suspects who are entertainers, casino execs, media moguls, Walmart family, sports stars, and old Las Vegas family names like Cashman or Mack.

Again, it's a fascinating read. After looking over the PDFs I noticed that the Prince is number one on usage and that boxing promoter Don King is down at number 96. But when you look at the list at water usage per square foot, Don King rushed to the top and the prince falls down to 95. BTW, Don lives in a townhouse.

Given that so much of this water is landscaping, it would be interesting to know when Colorado river water is used for irrigation in California how much the farmers use per square foot.
