   Las Vegas In Postcards
There is a new book called Las Vegas 1905-1965 that is featured in the Arts and Entertainment section of the Las Vegas Sun today. The book was written by a friend of mine Lynn Zook, who is an excellent source for Las Vegas history answers. If she doesn't know the answer, she knows who does.

The article in the Sun talks about how Las Vegas history isn't quite how the TV shows portray it. You can read more on line at

I plan to buy the book at her book signing party.

That is cool! When is her booksigning and where? I'd like to get her book. I have some old interesting memorabilia, among which is a very old silver-colored plate with 7 or 8 of the first hotel/casinos on it. Sahara is there with some pretty sturdy looking camels and El Rancho, Stardust when the marquee was that long sign, Fremont St.,etc. Lots of matchbooks.

May 8 at the Nevada State Museum. The book is available in bookstores now. They are also working on a companion video. I'm pretty sure that I have seen most of the contents of the video, except that I saw it in a Powerpoint presentation.

You can also catch Lynn on Tax Day, as a Turner Classic Movies Fan Programmer. At 9pm PST, she will co host with Robert Osborne for the movie She Wore A Yellow Ribbon.

Lynn is the moderator for all of the Untold Stories classes that I go to at the Springs Preserve.

That's good to know about TCM. I have my TV set to watch some and I'll set it to watch She Wore A Yellow Ribbon and Lynn Zook. They start tonight don't they? I think I have it set for The Letter w/Bette Davis.
"Untold Stories"? What is that?

TCM is having some excellent shows this week.

Untold Stories is the history class I attend at the Springs Preserve. Instead of leaning history from a book, we have a panel of 4 or 5 people who actually lived during the time. They are more than happy to tell how they remembered it. Every month is a different subject, such as Fremont St, the railroad, the families, Christmas in Vegas, the mob, entertainment, etc.
