A huge construction project will begin next week that could impact most tourist around the strip. There are some overhead power lines that will be buried along Flamingo Rd, between Koval and I-15.
There is a current topic on Flamingo valet, and this construction can impact that path.
The power distribution center is on the northeast corner of Flamingo and Koval. That is across Koval from the Westin. The lines will be buried from that point, in front of the Westin, across the empty lot of the old Burbon Street, across Audrie and the Stage Door casino, along Bills, across the strip, and along Caesars Palace. Maybe you've noticed the overhead power lines around Caesars and Bills when looking around the strip.
Most of the heavy work will be done on Sunday thru Thursday. The project is expected to take approx 18 months.
This whole project was pushed through by Harrahs which owns much of the property that will be affected. Speculators think that Harrah's long term plans include new "stuff" from behind that power station up to the strip.
Great! Just when I thought I had it made with all your directions for Flamingo Valet.
Oh well, maybe I'll just call them before we go to see what's up with the construction at that time.
BTW, I checked to see if our Alamo car came down in price, it almost DOUBLED! I thought I was going to drop my dentures (if I had any) This is for the last week of April, I'm guessing there is something big going on that week.

I got in the middle of it on Wednesday night. The westbound lanes went from 3 lanes to 2 lanes to 1 lane in front of the Tuscany. There is enough shoulder that some cars were making the shoulder a lane too. Most of the work was at Flamingo and Koval, and it was clearing up by the time I got to Audrie.
I drove through on Thursday afternoon, eastbound. There wasn't much going on except for barricades and cones steel plates over the holes that were dug.
I have no info at this time on how fast or slow the construction zone will move to the west.

I drove through the Flamingo construction about 4:45 this morning. There were cones, lights, lane closures, for almost the entire distance of the project from near I-15, to east of Koval, near the Tuscany. Eastbound traffic was one lane.
Construction is not new to this town. I'm sure there will always be a path to get where you need to go.
Most of the construction will be on Sunday through Thursdays at night.

I haven't noticed a solid pattern of how the construction works on this project. It seems they hit various parts of the street in various areas at various times.

Please do call and let us know what they say. They will probably just say to be careful and deal with it.
The electronic signs say construction on Flamingo by the strip is only Sun through Thur, at night.
The holes they dig are covered with temporary covers during the day and weekends. There are lots of left over cones all over the place too. It's not easy to see the lanes in these areas.
I will check back in after I call. We'll be getting in around 9pm next Monday night. Hopefully there won't be too much traffic at that time of night to navigate around the construction. And I'm probably worrying over nothing, but that's me LOL
I called yesterday afternoon and got nothing. The girl I talked to on the phone said we'd have no problem. I explained to her I heard it was a "minefield" and she repeated, we'd have no problem.
I hope not! I'm probably being nervous about nothing, but I'm a Nervous Nellie.

I think the signs on Flamingo say Sun-Thur 9pm-6am. And it was a minefield, and backed up traffic this morning at 5am. It is driveable. It is far from a user friendly street.
I think the worst tourist backup is on Paradise between DI and the Hilton especially at night. It usually gets down to one lane in some directions.
