History Channel has a program on right now, Life After People or something like that and it's in Las Vegas. They showed some implosions. Gotta go watch.

Well, that was very disturbing, to see what might happen to Las Vegas in the centuries to come. They did show The Springs Preserve and all the solar panels they have there.

I've seen bits of pieces of that show and find it somewhat silly. There are many cases where it would be hard to tell whether the concrete would give or the steel would rust. Who's gonna prove them wrong? What about mother nature? Earthquakes, lightening, floods might beat them to the point. With a mechanical background I'm kinda trained on cause and effect. I'm kinda up to date on how preventative maintenance preserves man made items.

You've seen where a tiny crack in the sidewalk gathers a little dirt, then some tiny weeds begin to take root and if left alone the plants will push the concrete away. I've looked at some homes that have not been taken care of in almost a year. The same thing is happening. Dirt collects, allowing a plant to open up a hole, which allows dirt moisture, plants, insects, and even animals to do further damage to structure and cosmetics. Inside the homes, the wood is drying out and there are cracks from expansion and contraction since the interior climate was not maintained. It's just a little bit scary to think how easy an investor could buy the home and patch over the damage.

Have you ever visited the many ghost towns in the area and seen what happens when the wells ran dry or the gold rush ended or the settlers just moved on? It doesn't take long.

OTOH, I like just about any TV show where Las Vegas is the focus. I'll watch for this in the future for a rerun.

Don't watch it! It hurt to see THE SIGN hit the dust and everything disappear after 1000 years under dust. Well, maybe it was longer than 1000 years. But it showed the Strat toppling over. They said the Luxor would withstand the best because of it's architectural design.
