   Casa Di Amore
   Casa Di Amore
First, I want thank Ellen for getting me moving this up on my to do list.

Casa Di Amore is a nice little Italian eatery that has been in town for years. The comfy booths and old Las Vegas pictures on the wall are just part of that old Vegas charm. They have a very small stage area for entertainment. And there is a bar in the back that seems to do pretty good business. It is more old school than even The Bootlegger.

I got there about 7:00 on a Monday night and the place was about half full. The bar was almost full and many people were watching either a hockey game or a basketball game.(both were on the big screens). In the restaurant, a guy was playing an electronic piano and singing some great old standards in a Frank Sinatra style.

Service was very friendly and attentive. They brought out some nice Italian bread. I noticed they only brought out cold butter and parmesan cheese for the bread. Where's the oil and vinegar? I don't know if that is a regional thing, a cheaper option, or just the way Guido likes it. It was good though. The iced tea seemed fresh brewed.

I ordered one of my old favorites, chicken vesuvio and a caesar salad. It is a half chicken baked in olive oil and garlic. The $3 add on Caesar salad was pretty good. It was served on a bed of spinach and had vinegar added to the juice and reduced. It also had a twice baked potato with it. It was a very good meal.

Casa Di Amore says on their website that they will come pick you up in a limo. Sure enough, there were a couple of stretch limos on the side lot. They also advertise being open 24 hours. They have changed that...a sign of the economic times? They now close at 2 and re-open at 11. Casa Di Amore is located on Tropicana, between Eastern and Pecos, on the north side of Trop.

I'm not an authority on Italian food. Much like BBQ, I don't know all of the regional techniques and processes. I just know what I like and what I don't like. I like this place. I will be back.

Thanks for trying it out Joe.

I'm thinking if hitting it for lunch or dinner while we're there

I had dinner last night at Casa Di Amore. It was very good. The place was packed, which I wasn't expecting on a Wednesday night. Maybe reservations should be suggested.

I am glad to hear the cream still rises to the top, and a packed house on a Wednesday night is a good sign of a healthy business model. I must cut back on some things, lately my ulser has been giving me trouble again. Most Italian food doesn't set well with my condition, although the chicken you described in your earlier post would work fine. It's the gravy that gets to me!

I just read my description of the chicken and I was talking through my taste buds which were going crazy.

There was a small Caesar salad add on for $3.

The chicken plate was a seasoned roasted half chicken. It had a sauce of garlic, vinegar, wine, and lemon reduced and poured over it. That was all on a bed of sauteed spinach. Also on the plate was a twice baked potato.

If the lemon or vinegar in the sauce are not to your liking, I think they could probably modify it.

Every time I eat there, I always hear people at other tables complimenting the food. Most people have something with a red sauce on it. It's good to me, but I'm not a good judge of Italian dining.
